Night Seven: Amsterdam

David and his band will perform their second gig in Amsterdam tonight.
Will you be there, too? If so, do let us know how excited you’re feeling as the minutes… tick… slowly… by. We want to know what you’re hoping to hear and, of course, we want to know if you had a good time.
As always, if you don’t want to know the setlist, don’t read on.
Today’s photo is of David during the soundcheck in Dortmund.
Many more of Polly’s photographs to come, not only here, but also at the fantastic Gallery. Be sure to have a look at them, if you haven’t already done so.
Have a great time tonight, everyone.

PS to DG… David I’ve ironed your black t’shirt for you
DG… Sorry luv… bit busy at the moment…
If anyone is wondering, why David is bending down to his monitor speakers quite often, it is not because of a technical problem, but rather caused by a lyrical black-out. He has placed a folder with all the songlyrics down there (with a little lamp) funny isn’t it? By the way, calling Richard just another member of David’s Tourband, then he can only mean the financial contract. But Richard is a legend and a totally underrated driver of the legendary Pink Floyd sound. His original voice on ‘Time’ and Echoes is a MUST!!! Not speaking of his playing.
[David's not the only one with such a folder, Alec. Richard has one, too. Nothing wrong with that. - Features Editor]
Fedmeister…
Now that the tour is underway and the first concerts are done and successful is there a sense of “calm” within the team? Or is it like a Swan on the river… gliding majestically along with furious pedalling underneath?
And I’m not suggesting Swans ride bicycles before I get exactly the type of comment I would make… Anyway the bicycle clips would be too big for them….
[There's always something to worry about, but I think everyone is delighted that the album has done so well and that the concerts have been a success. You still have to pedal, though. - Features Editor]
I am a big fan of David Gilmour and PF.
I will be in NYC on April 4th and 6th and also in Los Angeles on April 20th to enjoy David Gilmour concert. I really hope to have a great time there because I spent not just money, I also lost my marriage.
Mr. Gilmour,
First and foremost please let me thank you for the decades of incredible hits and mind blowing guitar riffs. I just want you to know that I was introduced to Pink Floyd when I was 8 years old by my older Cousin who is more like my brother, and I have been hooked ever since. I live in southern California grew up listening to your music, wishing I could have experienced your guitar riffs in person. I haven’t exactly had an easy life (I’m not going to bore you with details) but I want you to know that through the roughest most desperate times I give a lot of credit for my staying sane came from Pink Floyd. I just saw this as an opportunity to thank you for (unknowingly) helping through the tough times.
Sincerely,
Travis Hartman
Dear all!
Last night was good, again! Going back tonight…this is lovely!
I’m sorry to say that this will be the last Gilmour concert for me for a while. but after the Paris shows and these two nights in Amsterdam I will probably float above ground till the London gigs in May!
Thanks to Mr. Gilmour for putting on so good shows and thanks to Mr. Wright for going on this tour (your vocals is better than ever and it’s fun to hear you sing on Comfortably Numb)!
Best regards from
JT

the reviews from last night’s amsterdam show make me wish that i was able to see tonight’s show more than any of the others that have gone before. if you’re going tonight, have a great time. i’m as jealous as hell! please tell us all about it.
There seem to be a lot of posts from people attending multiple concerts… not really fair on the fans who couldn’t get tickets!
Although I must admit if I was in the UK I would love to be at the final concert at the RAH so I guess I would have gone twice… BUT I still have enough airmiles for a round trip if needed :-)

David found it very easy to play his guitar and constantly monitor the video screen to ensure his guitar hid the results of Richard’s botched botox injection…

Hi Ed ,
I have put the new cd onto my ipod but cant get the album artwork to come up. Do I have to buy from ITunes for this to occur?

Just wondered, will you be submitting you CV for the post of Features Ed. for Rog’s Blog site, as & when one starts up.?!
[Gosh, how do I answer that? Um... No. This is more than enough for me, thank you! - Features Editor]
I think the FLOYD would have been amazed at the Which One’s Pink show in Long Beach,CA. They played ANIMALS in its entirety. The crowd went wild & they made a mark for themselves.

Let’s hope Simon Cowell isn’t in any of the audiences as I’m sure he would have something to say about this… :-@
Got to say, it’s great that David & co. are mixing the tunes up a bit for each gig – makes each one a bit different, a bit (more) special.
Having said that, I’ll be gutted if Echoes isn’t still in the set-list on 31st May!

Although somewhat irrelevant, my computer has been very retarded lately and not updating websites like my devinat art and crap. I noticed that the main page of the website ,on my computer, hasn’t been updated since thursday. Is this correct or is it my warped hard drive?
[Er, this is correct. - Features Editor]
[There seem to be a lot of posts from people attending multiple concerts... not really fair on the fans who couldn't get tickets!]
I wasn’t able to get tickets, and I felt the same way, Rudders – especially when I read posts that said it wasn’t great but I’m going back tomorrow!
But heck, although I’d like to think I’d not do the same, maybe I’d have bought for more than one concert if I’d been able to get my hands on any!
Its the resellers that I hate with a passion – I’d rather see a true fan go multiple times and have a great time than know people are obscenely profiting from a fan’s love of great music and desire to listen to a great musician.
There was talk of pitchforks, angry mobs etc etc earlier – I’m far too old and unfit to do the mobbing thing, but turn em lose on the profiteers and I’ll come along to make the sarnies and serve the tea while they do their thing!

David, put your black shirt back on, know one will recognize you. If Polly did not pack enough shirts for you, I think maybe I could spare one for you, ha.ha.ha. see you in Toronto. And by the way, are there anymore set list changes, please no. STOP THERE.
To the question about the LSF section at Massey Hall, I have been there for several different shows, and I can not say there is relly a bad one accept if the tickets say obsrtucted view.
The sound gets a little base to the side stage but still sounds great.
Be happy you have tickets.

Your fan,

The show is well underway right now and I cannot believe I am not there.
I fully intended to be there even though I had no ticket yet, but after the incredible experience I had last night I knew I could not let the chance go by to see the show one more time.
But this afternoon I ended up spending hours in hospital with my brother (in law). He kept telling me to go home and leave him there, but off course there was no way I would do that. Luckily he was finally allowed to go back home, but by the time we got back to his house it was already 6 pm. If I had any chance of still purchasing a cancelled ticket I should have been at the Music Hall the moment the doors openend and there was no way I was still going to make that. I was also so exhausted I knew I would never have been able to drive back home afterwards. So instead I drove back to my own house in the opposite direction.
Last night’s show was so incredible I had tears running down my face more than once. What is it about David’s and Pink Floyd’s music that touches us so deeply? After the afternoon I had today I could really have used the emotional relief. But with every other highway I had to change to, my heart bled, realising I was getting further and further away from where I most wanted to be.
I do hope the band and everyone attending is having a wonderful show tonight though. I guess all that is left for me to do is play Echoes on my stereo, imagine I am there, and just let those tears flow.
hugs
Bianca
I received an email from one of the many promoters I get email from, telling me to check out http://www.davidgilmour.com on a day back in Dec.for an opportunity to buy tickets for David’s upcoming North American tour. On that day I could have purchased tickets to any of the North American shows through this website on Ticketmaster. They were available. I bought two tickets (floor seats) to both Oakland shows and told my closest friends. None of them bought any tickets. The next morning tickets were still availabe to all of the venues except NYC. I told my friends again. None of them still bought any tickets. I didn’t buy any more because I’m not a scalper and I couldn’t attend any of the other shows due to my job. Now my friends are bitching at me because I didn’t get them in on tickets. What can you do? I had my tickets in hand before they went on sale to the public. The early bird catches the worm! I tried to let my best buds in on it. Now they think I’m being greedy because I won’t give up a pair. NO WAY JOSE! I’m a nice guy and I share what I have but no way! Am I out of line?
[Not at all, Ken. Many people dithered and they missed out. You're right about the early bird and that's why you've got tickets and they haven't. I hope you have a great time, mate. - Features Editor]

Hey Fed. ED Person, Thanks for keeping all of us so well informed about everything happening on the tour. Could you please print some of the newspaper reviews of the show? I love reading what these so called “experts” have to say about David and his touring band. Hope that is not too big of a request. Thank you, Dave in Ft. Wayne In

I was just watching David’s Meltdown DVD and got to thinking how cool it would be if David added Wright’s ‘Breakthrough’ to the setlist. It is a beautiful song and would fit in nicly with the current setlist

evening feat ed . i think there might be another sale of on an island here in dublin . bet i have had the oddest way of publicising the album too . i was out at work today as i normally am . i drive for a living delivering home brew round dublin . i was stopped at some traffic lights in the tallaght area of my city playing on an island on my car cd player . now i must admit i do turn my music up when i am in the car on my own ( shame on me i know !) i put down my window to wipe the rain off my mirror whereupon the person in the car on my right put down theirs . i thought i would be in for a gob full of the 3rd degree about how loud i was playing my music but i heard a shout of what that music you are listening to . so i managed to hit the stop button on my cd player hold up the cd box of on an island and shout the title of it at them and not only that i told them where to buy it all before the lights changed . the song they heard was this heaven . i think they liked it . 2 blokes were in the car beside me were probably in ther mid 20′s or so . hopefully i have done my bit to make someone else buy on an island you never know :-)
[Excellent! More enjoyable than walking around in a sandwich board, no doubt! - Features Editor]
Was wondering: any chance of David perhaps working in a tune at some point from one of his prior solo albums? It’s great that we’re seeing some Floyd nuggets resurrected, but I can’t help but think how awesome it would be if David just ripped into “Raise My Rent” one evening. :-)
Also, I saw over on Amazon that David’s first solo album is scheduled for a US re-release on May 2. It says that this album has been remastered. Is this true?
[Amazon's announcing things again? Surely not. - Features Editor]
Here’s the setlist:
On an island, completely
pause
Shine on
wotz uhm the deal
fat old sun
coming back to life
time+breathe reprise(no normal breathe)
high hopes
echoes
encore
wish you were here
comfortably numb
It was great
Another brilliant night. The band once again struts its stuff. David really let RIP the electric solo at the end of Fat Old Sun. Coming Back to life swapped for Wearing the Inside Out was a nice variation to the songs played so far. And again, David’s playing was just brilliant. This evening the band left Breathe off the setlist, even though they didn’t add another song. It’s a shame, because the Breathe>Time>Breathe Reprise medley was so powerful, and it really was spinetingling to ear the speak to me intro precede the languid beauty of David’s slide guitar at the beginning of Breathe. Echoes was once again a power-house closer. Nice to hear the band becoming collectively more assertive.
Anyway, to those complaining about not getting tickets, did you bother to show up the night of ths show? There were extras for face value outside of the venue both nights. Scalpers were even leaving with extra tickets. Sometimes you gotta work it people!
Shine on and thanks for the wonderful show!
Set I: On an Island
Set II: Shine On, Wot’s Uh The Deal, Fat Old Sun, Coming Back to Life, Time>Breathe Reprise, High Hopes, Echoes
E: Wish You Were Here, Comfortably Numb
Done well again!
I was there tonight…
David is the maestro, I loved every second.
Language is a clumsy tool to capture emotions. Enough said.
Best,
Clemens
There is a piece of equipment that I see David using all the time, and I am wondering if you can tell me what it is. It is a small rectangular box with a circle that seams to light up, and four nobs under the circle. It is always right by him. Is that some sort of monitor? Please help! I am losing a lot of sleep over this. Dan
AMSTERDAM, 19-03
what did i see yesterday? i still can`t put my finger on it…an amazing show from an amazing band, it was really high-class preformance (I saw CSN and Dylan last year, but this was something else!)
Always loved PF and DG and after yestarday the love will never grow old, I`m sure!
Shivers when shine on, time, comfortably numb and high hopes were played but what realy struck me was Echoes..i mean it lasted about 20 minutes or so!…never thaught i would hear that great piece of music again..
Thanks everybody!
ps maybe maybe maybe next time the entire momentary lapse of reason album as an encore??? haha
Caption Competition: “No, I feel fine. Do I LOOK like I have a fever?”
Now that the NYC shows are getting closer I’m having a huge change of heart: I can’t believe I sold my ticket to the April 4th show just so I could pay the rent. What was I thinking? Did I really believe only one night with David would be enough when I could’ve had two?
Okay, who has tickets for April 4th they wanna unload? I’m losing sleep. No one wants to see me sitting on the curb in front of Radio City crying and cursing, do they? ‘Cause I think that’s the way it’s gonna go down if I’m not at opening night in NYC.

Oh just a little something here…
Richard Wright is absolutely underrated! Without him there can be no pink floyd i think..
and it was very odd but beautiful to hear him take the Comfortably Numb lyrics!
Just had to say that!
Yet another setlist tweak for the 3/20 show…see if you can spot the addition. :-)
FIRST HALF: The complete ON AN ISLAND album. Then, a fifteen minute break.
SECOND HALF: Shine On You Crazy Diamond, Wot’s… Uh The Deal, Coming Back To Life, Breathe/Time/Breathe Reprise, Fat Old Sun, High Hopes, Echoes. ENCORE: Wish You Were Here and Comfortably Numb.

I will be at the April 4th show in NYC. Your new album moves the hair on the back of my neck. truly a great album!! and happy birthday brother!
Hello,
This was my second evening in Amsterdam with Mr. David Gilmour and his friends. And what an evening it was!! Yesterday I wrote that the concert was the best I ever had seen.
But today… I will have to say it again; this evening was far far farmost the best concert I really have seen. The band played better than yesterday. The sound was better. I really loved it.
Set List of the seventh night:
I: On an Island
II: Shine On, Fat Old Sun, Coming back To Life, Time>Breathe Reprise, High Hopes, Echoes
E: Wish You Were Here, Comfortably Numb
Something special happend tonight. During the break I was waiting for the second half and guess who was walking to me? Polly Samson!! I did not dare to ask her for an autograph.
Later during the encores a few fans came to the stage and there I saw Polly again, she was taking pictures of David and the band.
Did she also take one (or more) pictures of the people in front of the stage? I was there too. And if she have taken any picture of the people will this pictures also be published on http://www.davidgilmour.com?
If the pictures are not published can you mail me the pictures?
Thank for the two wonderful evenings. I was there with my father (age: 75!) and he also loved the shows.
The 29th of May I will be in London with my wife and I am looking to it. Still waiting 2 months, but Time Is Ticking Away.
Thank you for so much joy and happiness.
See you in London.
Carlos
[There's a good chance that they'll be on the site, Carlos. Glad you enjoyed! - Features Editor]
Are you going to be posting any more concert hall information for upcoming shows??? Or is that all done for now???
I was looking for an inside shot of Massey Hall so I can see where the man (David) is going to be standing!
[There are a few more theatres left to feature, Matthew. Finding good shots of the inside of Massey Hall isn't proving to be easy, though! Jesse kindly added a link to one yesterday. If you click your name below, you'll see it. Thanks again for that, Jesse! - Features Editor]
Just back from the show.
here’s the setlist:
On an island (complete album, played in different order)
after the break:
Shine on..,
wots uh… the deal,
fat old sun (unfortunately no dominoes)
coming back to life
time + breath reprise (no breath :-()
high hopes
echoes
encore:
Wish you were here
Comfortably numb
hm maybe the order is slightly different (can’t remember)
I was there too! Absolutely amaaaazing show!
Best Regards,
Floris,
Just got back home… in zwolle!
Okay, Ed/Edwina – are you trying to gaslight me? I saw a questionable post (I didn’t do it!) on the blog for all of about 2 minutes and then whoosh! it was gone. One-liner? Something about David. Ring a bell?
Take it from me – you can’t really drink a lot and do this job properly. ;-)

I am sorry to read about Guy being struck down with a stomach bug. I remember before christmas suffering from the same whilst changing a 12 way 3 phase fuse board, the stress of having to get the electric back on whilst suffering like that was unbeliveable, I can`t imagine what it would be like feeling like that and then having to perform to a sell out crowd! Hat`s off to you Guy!
And I hope everyone is well on the tour!
Thanks,

excuse the swearing ed, but f*cking hell! ‘coming back to life’ is one of my all-time favourites. i love that song. i had a feeling tonight’s show would be special. how many more surprises has david got in store for us, i wonder? the man’s such a big tease. i really am having trouble waiting until may for the band to reach london. this blog is winding me up but in a good way. i had to stay up to see the setlist. how sad is that? damn, i wish i’d been in amsterdam tonight.
“……There is a piece of equipment that I see David using all the time, and I am wondering if you can tell me what it is. It is a small rectangular box with a circle that seams to light up…..”
Sounds like an electronic guitar tuner
IT’S IN THE SET ” coming back to life” Excellent , I was looking forward to the post that said it had been included into what is an already blinding setlist. My good lady has asked me to beg David & co to include it one night at RAH . She heard it live at the stratpack and nearly lost her mind. Sorry that did sound a bit wanting !!!!. On a Different note we need more Linda’s in Dublin to advertise this new album .
I have still yet to hear it on national radio . This will not do to coin a phase from the other lad ????????.
Rgds Geoff Duffy ( Dublin )
coming back to life and fat old sun… Great songs, wish David played it yesterday…
Isn’t it true that Comfortably numb was actually a demo for davids first solo album?
Does David still got his Ferrari F40? The story about him and nick pickin up the cars in maranello is great!
[It was a demo from the time David was making his first solo album in France. A very nice one, too. - Features Editor]
Dan,
The box you refer to by David is a Strobe tuner which is an old device compared to modern day digital guitar tuners. Yet the strobe tuner if far, far more accurate.
[It was a demo from the time David was making his first solo album in France. A very nice one, too. - Features Editor]
There aren’t any raw recordings of this demo are there?
[David played a snippet on BBC radio several years ago. I think it was 1992 or thereabouts. It was the same time he shared his reggae version of 'Like A Rolling Stone'. No doubt it's well-bootlegged. - Features Editor]
What is the caption competition? I`ve been blogging on this site for months, and assumed it was something Rudders had made up.
[I think Rudders did make it up! It's not a real competition, just an excuse to make up funny captions for all the photos. Shame on me, but I'm still chuckling about the robot one from yesterday. - Features Editor]
To second Victor… **cking Hell!
Coming back to life is a superb song which fits perfectly into this set… it’s a must…please.
And… a semi-acoustic version of Brain Damage and Eclipse would be pant-wettingly brilliant!
well, just waiting for 31 May, hoping that Sam Brown show herself that day to sing Great Gig. “Wearing the inside out” is a must(good live version) and still hope that Breakthrough can be played. Echoes should remain in the setlist either, are you reading??!!!(to use Guy Pratt’s way of writing).
One question… since There’s David, Rick and even Phill Manzanera, 3 very creative musicians, is it possible that , while jaming before the shows , create new songs for solo albums or group efforts? do you know(features ed.) if they did something since the beginning of the tour?
[No idea, sorry. - Features Editor]

That raises a question, can we mention RoIo’s in here? I mean, whats done is done, right? They are well documented.
Thanks FEd…and btw, I dont know who you are, but it did take me longer than most to even figure out that FEd was the features editor!

“OH..My..God!!!”…”Coming Back to Life”???”Are you serious?!!!..How much better can this get???!!!
Oh yeah, one more comment on the show…
People, stop bringing your cameras!!! When I attended the show this really was a turn off, there were people holding telephones al over the place. These iluminated screens are realy irritating!
So people just go to the show, sit down and relax. When your too much concerned about taking photographs you can not enjoy the music and thats what it is all about isn’t it?
[Well, it should be. - Features Editor]

‘Pant Wettingly Brilliant’ to describe an acoustic BD/Eclipse…nice Rudders.
I too, vote for Coming Back To Life, to stay in setlist. beautiful vox on that onw Richard, way to go!

how long will it take someone to determine my alter-ego? It’s all in the CaPiTaLizaTion.
Anyone else think Eclipse would be an amazing song to end the show with (hint hint for Massey Hall night one)?
What’s this?…Rudders making set request changes? Maybe you are just one of us after all.Just kidding Rudd.I’m freaking out as much as you are after reading these blogs.Too bad for me that I won’t be able to meet you as my show at M.H. is on the 10th.Rock on my friend!!!Luv ya!(Sorry about the Luv ya part, being a guy and all…beer is starting to kick in.You know how it is.
Mr. Features Editor.
I haven’t found the link of FAQ’s e-mail on site, cause ask here.
Have you any plans to release a live album of ’84 tour? I’m sure you know that people listens aka “New Game” bootlegs of it.
And second question about re-issuing ’84 tour on DVD. I have a video cassette only. I so wait a digital stuff. I understand your whole team has much work with new 5.1 On an Island album and future DVD 2006 tour, but nevertheless?
Thank you.
Max from Russia.
[There's no address or form on the FAQs page because we don't want more questions at this time. Please send your question in when such a facility returns. However, the 1984 tour is old news now. David is far more interested in what's happening at the present time, so I think you'll be disappointed with the answer. - Features Editor]

Greetings from Connecticut,
I have been reading the feedback about the tour with a big old grin every day – Watching the magic grow and it’s life take form.
Lastly a big HUGE AND LASTING thanks to David, Polly, Phil T., Rick, Dick, Guy, Jon, and all the others who made this magnificant album, given us photos with feelings and share their magic with a long desired tour.
I only wish I knew about the tour before last week so I could have bought tickets!!
Ben H.
well i got a couple more weeks till im there at radio music hall!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Glad to hear “Coming Back to Life” made a set. I’m kind of hoping it’ll make the April 4th NYC show, not for my sake so much, but because that was the song that first got my cousin interested in David/PF (at my recommendation of course) and she’ll be attending the concert with me. I know she really would love to hear it live. She also likes Breathe (esp. live), and it looks like that one will most likely get played too. She’ll be a happy camper.
But what I like CBTL for mostly is that it proves David is a much better lyricist than he gives himself credit for. Many of my favorites of his are songs with his own lyrics (CBTL, Sorrow, Childhood’s End, Where We Start, Murder, Fat Old Sun, The Narrow Way). Maybe it does take him longer than most to write them, but to me at least it’s worth it.
Caption Competition:
David seems “amused to death” over yet another request for a DVD of some sort not to mention the requests for “something from Animals, please!”
There are obviously a lot of people that like to start rumors since there are at least 3 different setlists posted.
Coming Back To Life. – BRILLIANT !! it’s my favorite on The Division Bell, & helped me through a tough time. Hope to hear it in Oakland 4/17. Congrats.on a sensational album,& successful tour! Also,I happened to see PF @ Earl’s Court in ’94 just walking up as the show started. They had extra seats available! So don’t give up! Cheers All, Stevie G.
Just got home from seeing the second show in Amsterdam. Wow!
Since someone has whined about people attending multiable concerts, is there anyone out there that is seeing more than 3 shows? I’ll be attending both Rosemont Shows, and all 3 shows at the Albert Hall this May in London. I’m hoping Roger will plan something in London around this time as well, but it doesn’t look like it.
I like the idea about changing the set list but David just play the extra songs it will make everybody so happy!
I was going to stay away but someone saying they find my voice sexy…Well….
Great show tonight, really mixed up the set. We never really rehearsed Coming Back To Life but playing it was like putting on an old favourite coat, special mention to the amazing Mr DiStanislao who copped the pocket on it from beat 1. (Sorry, muso term…)
Can I just say, as it seems I am the blog moaner, that all of you who take flash photos are not only distracting and annoying us but wasting your own time and photos. There is absolutely no point in throwing light at light, and with Mr Brickman at the helm, light is one thing we do have. (A fair bit of sound as well, obviously…)
By the way, we’re loving these shows as much as you.(Well I am…) I could happily get up every morning and play the space jam bit from Echoes all day every day for the rest of my life

Rudders… awww heck… yahoo is too tedious. Email me at sheltim@cox.net and we’ll figure it out!

Hi all
Well, when we go to see the show at Massey Hall in Toronto (10th row floors!), my wife will be three weeks from her due date for our second child. Now, I know the baby already loves all of David’s/Floyd’s music, but will he/she want to make an early appearance to see the show? Has David ever delivered a baby? How about in the middle of a concert? Now THAT would be memorable!
(Yesterday’s photo: David reaching down to cut the umbilical…)
For all those concerned about seating in Massey Hall, it truly is a fantastic, intimate place to see a concert. Mr. Gilmour played there for his About Face tour.
If you would like to see a detailed, seat-by-seat PDF map of the seating at the hall, click on my name. The black dots on the map represent support posts for the balconies/galleries – the only real obstructions. That said, they really don’t obscure that much (insert “clouds” joke here). Be sure to click on the links at the bottom of the page for the appropriate PDF file.
Take care.
Jim (who saw no warning on the ticket that the music or lights would induce labour) Wilson
I’ll give $50 to David’s favorite charity if the Features-Ed bans those lame captions in these comments pages.

Just wondering if there is any chance of seeing perform in Australia in the future?
Hi FEd, David and all,
I’ve gotta say I’m in agreement with Victor, Geoff, & Rudders — “Coming Back To Life” is a must…please … pretty please with sugar on it! That and “Fat Old Sun” would be so sweet.
After the first, second & third round of 5 favorites you’d like to be performed I’ve been very good about not making special requests for songs, but tonight I’m letting it out. I’ve been wanting to ask (beg) for these two songs all along, but only had the ‘balls’ (strange since I’m a 54 year old woman) tonight to make the request since the ever-popular and always amusing Rudders did!
When the date arrives I’m quite certain that whatever happens musically will be magical and I would never think of complaining … but I still would really love “Coming Back To Life.”
Best to everyone and enjoy the shows.
Peace,
Gabrielle

Keep on changin` that Setlist…especially in the Back half of the show.
I am “ripping” my Floyd/Gilmour stuff and burning them to Discs in preparation for your arrival at NYC.
Wouldn`t it be great if Mr Gilmour totally changed the Setlist for the USA tour. I would not mind this in the least. IT`S ALL GOOD !!!!!!
Dear All!
Back in the hotel after day two in Amsterdam (and a few hours on pubs!), and I must say tonight was a really good one! Much better than yesterday and yesterday was great, so it was extremely good today!
Love that the setlist changes as I’m one of those people that are going to several shows. I am sorry for those who did not get tickets, but I must say that I did not do anything special to get them, I was on the internet like the rest of you when the sales started and managed to get the tickets. As none of the shows are in my own country this means that I have to travel a lot. This is costing a bit so there will be no sugar in my tea for a couple of years……but it’s worth it!!!!
I did end up with a spare ticket to the L’Olympia show in Paris and gave that away to a French fan that couldn’t afford to go. This was someone I met outside Mr. Gilmour’s hotel in Paris. It was his presence there that made me stay and get autographs from both Mr. Gilmour and Mr. Wright, so I thought he deserved the ticket. The expression on his face when he finally realized that I wasn’t joking and that he actually was going to the show was priceless. He enjoyed the show and I enjoyed giving him the ticket.
Well as I said earlier now it’s no more shows till London. If I had the time and means I could have gone to all the shows but there is a limit……
I hope all of you that are going will enjoy the shows and soon it’s time for the US and Canada to get a visit. I can ensure you it was worth the wait!!
Best regards from
JT (a nutcase from Norway)
GREAT SETLIST – Loved the dominoes change to Fat Old Sun. Sorry to hear that Breathe was sacrificed. I don’t think i’m alone for saying we want to hear DOGS. I’d hear it instead of coming back to life, but that’s my preferance. Rock on, David!
…well I think “any colour you like” / “fearless” / “there’s no way out of here” / “I can’t breathe anymore” would also be pant-wettingly brilliant!
But alas it’s up to Mr. G what he fancies on the night. As it should be.
I’ll be happy to hear him come out April 9th and just sing Christmas carols if he wants to!
Tom
[Now stand back and wait for those who are severely lacking in the sense of humour department to say "Well, I wouldn't be happy if he sang Christmas carols all night!" - Features Editor]
Does David ever plan on posting a comment on here? Maybe just to say how he felt about the night. I think that would be really cool.
Being a true fan and waiting throughout the 35 years patiently for all tours. I graciously have purchased tickets for DG and PF shows to attend twice or three as a treat for myself and my friends. Just to hear the changes in the setlist and to hear David mix it up a notch on the soaring guitar leads. This makes him unique. I cannot see any other band twice, it’s not the same for myself. I’ve been fortunate, since it is even extremely difficult to attend 1 show. This tour with Richard will be special. Thank You.
Well, I had to wait 40 years to hear the songs again played live in a hall with excellent acoustics.
I remember Richard in 1966 (De Doelen in Rotterdam) with a kind of joystick on top of his instruments used for quadraphonic sounds. No joystick last night.
The band was just great, excellent musicians. David played superb. Richard touched me with his part in ‘Numb’. Had to wipe off a little tear hearing the intro.
I will remember this show and store it with all the memories I have of all other shows I’ve seen from Pink Floyd.
Promise me one thing, don’t let me wait another 40 years because David will then be 100 and I 96.
Thank you all for this wonderful evening and for all the music over the last 40 years.
I tried for 30 years to get a ticket for Pink Floyd. So today 21-3 I have seen David Gilmour and it was GREAT !!!
I told my wife when we came out it was better then sex and now I have to sleep with the cd-player. GREAT SHOW !!!!!
Thanks
Fed, not much happening on “Latest News”, you OK? Cant have you slacking what would we do without you? No mention of David now at No 4 in UK Charts what about an update from around the World. We were all keen to hear how well David was doing on the way up but surely the true measure of support is maintaining interest no matter what.
Audience behaviour reports helpful. If anyone is reading this site that will be at Glasgow, please dont shout out stupid requests or yell in quiet pieces. At Mermaid, some plonker shouted for “Bike”. Oh wow thats really cool!!!???

[I'm not responsible for that, so don't blame me! Everyone has been busy with other things, but there will be more to report soon. - Features Editor]
Hi Dan,

“There is a piece of equipment that I see David using all the time, and I am wondering if you can tell me what it is. It is a small rectangular box with a circle that seams to light up, and four nobs under the circle. It is always right by him. Is that some sort of monitor? Please help! I am losing a lot of sleep over this. Dan”
That is an old Peterson Strobe Tuner. David has used this one since the seventies.
Regards,
Tom
Coming back to life instead of Wearing the inside out??? :-((( I hope this is NOT happening saturday night in Milan! That would be a nightmare for me! PLEASE bring back WTIO, David!!!
[And wear a black T-shirt. You're not allowed to wear a blue one. Please wear black. Sorry, but you have to admit, this is getting slightly out of hand. You can't decide the setlist. - Features Editor]

The same thing shows up with Roger Waters also. I am wondering for years what that is!
What is it, please?

Feat Ed please help ! The download caption links and click ‘here’ links on the On An Island page work OK from my desktop PC at work, and yet the caption links are not available (not displayed) from my laptop at home (click ‘here’ links available). I realise it’s probably a set-up problem on my lap-top, but can’t seem to pinpoint the problem. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Cheers !
[Hi Jon. Sorry to hear about your problem. I had a word with Peter, the very nice man who makes our website look so darn good, and he seems to think that it is indeed a set-up problem. We're pretty clueless, I'm afraid. Are there any experts reading who may have a suggestion for Jon? If so, please let us know. - Features Editor]
Hi F’Ed and fellow bloggers!
Great to see that the tour is going so well and that people are enjoying it.
I have just been having a giggle after reading Ross Halfin’s diary on his website. There seems to be a little story about Guy that has surfaced after Ross went to Paris to photograph one of the concerts. I was wondering if Guy cared to elaborate……..I’m bet him a beer he won’t! ;-)
Chris
Yesterday was amazing!! For me it was the first time I saw David and Richard perform live!! I am still wondering if it was a dream or actually will be part of me for the rest of my live!!
In june, I will see Roger and hopefully Nick perform at the Arrow Rock Festival. At least I have seen them perform seperately, because the chances of ever seeing them perform together again live will probably be indeed nothing but a dream!
David, thank you so much for this amazing evening in Amsterdam!! It will be part of me forever!!!!!!!
It’s fantastic…Translation from Italian newspaper” OAI is the king since 10 of march..Sanremo festival ?..it’s nothing!
