Happy Birthday to us

birthday.jpg

It’s the blog’s first birthday today, and the last blog day before Christmas, so I’d like to extend my thanks to everyone who has helped make the blog a success. (Er, that’s you lot: the readers and, more specifically, the writers.)

To celebrate, the chatroom will be open for most of the day (yes, it’s open now), so feel free to drop in for an imaginary tipple.

I hope you’ve enjoyed the highs, the lows and all that came in between – and hope you’ll join us for more of the same in 2007.

On behalf of everyone at davidgilmour.com, have a very Merry Christmas… and a Happy Birthday as well.

As a fellow Capricorn I’m fully aware of the difficulties in having a birthday around this time of year, so it’s important to celebrate accordingly.

Happy 1st Birthday blog, may there be many more to follow.

May I take the opportunity of specifically thanking you FEd for all the hard work you’ve put in this year. Have a great Christmas & New Year, be safe and may all your wishes come true.

And of course, best wishes to all of my fellow bloggers. Bring on 2007.

A very happy 1st birthday to the blog. I have been viewing this site since January and emailing on the blog for 10 months and would feel a bit lost if it wasn’t there any more.

As I’m not sure if this is the last day for posting for awhile, I’d like to wish a Happy Christmas to David, Polly and family, and to you and yours, FEd, also to all the bloggers, especially to all the long-time faithfuls.

    Dear Fed,

Thanks for this year with you… One year? Are you sure. Vous devez plaisanter? Pas déjà un an…

    Ah, ben peut-être, au fond…

    Merry Christmas to everyone!
    Ikkar, with love

Happy 1st birthday to the blog!

What a great way to communicate, and isn’t it exactly like Stephen Hawkings said: “all we need to do is to make sure we keep talking”; and most of all: what would this blog be without the tireless efforts of our fabulous Fed, the Great Communicator! Hope the blog will continue as long as possible!

Have a nice weekend and Merry Christmas to you all out there!

    Sorry, FEd

‘Foot-in-mouth’ moment – “… and the last blog day before Christmas”. I just noticed it!! Blame it on Christmas and trying to do too many things at once.

    CAPTION (my last for 2006):

Archaeologist 1: Amazing! These scrolls…. they’re written in Aramaic.
Archaeologist 2: What do they say?
    Archaeologist 1: This can’t be…
    Archaeologist 2: What is it!?
Archaeologist 1: It reads…”The Word of Gilmour” *rolls open scroll further*
Archaeologist 2: My God…a gnostic text? *kneels in reverence* How does it begin…?
Archaeologist 1: *hand trembling* It reads…”And the all seeing ‘Eye of David’ looked down upon his creation, looked upon all its wonders, and saw that it was good…”

(gaze at each other when in walks…)

Archaeologist 3: Hey, the room next door is full of all these pointy sticks, scratched disks, post-it notes, and small blue flyers, plus one set of Groucho Marx glasses. What do you think they mean….

Happy Anniversary Everyone, and Happy Holidays!!!

  26. Karima

Happy Birthday to the Blog. Can’t quite believe a full year has gone by …

And while I have been an uber-slacker poster of late (yes, all of fall term – ouch!), the blog and the website have been a constant must read fix.

Thank You to David & Polly, Band, Fed for this marvolous, wonderful year of music and community!

    Merry Christmas to everyone!

  27. Andrew S in Toronto

Happy Birthday to the blog! May you have many more!

  29. tim taylor

Wow! Happy 1st birthday! What progress you’ve made! Learning to crawl, then walk, now run… so much behind us… still far to go.

Thanks for everything. It’s been a great year. Who would have ever imagined? David could have put a cd out and left it at that. The amount of time and effort by Davit et al has been amazing. Thanks.

  33. Dan

    Happy birthday, blog.

I first came here around January and have been posting regularly since then. It’s hard to believe that this blog has been with us for a year.

This blog is almost as good as the music, the DVDs, the concerts.

I used to read every posting to this blog, but there are simply too many now. It’s good that David’s fans have a place to congregate, and it is amazing to realize just how many fans there are. Still, there is a great feeling when a place is yours; you lose that feeling when the place becomes as populated as this blog has become.

Rudders, and Lucia, and Angelo Ortiz, and Ian Pearson, and Deborah, have each left their own unique mark on this place. Bless you for that.

There are many others whose names have become instantly recognizable, and countless more who contribute to the blog as well (even if they don’t have the name recognition). Everyone together makes this the special place that it is, making it a true democracy. Bless you all for what you do.

If you are reading these words, bless you for taking part in this wonderful community.

  34. Paul Sexton

    Happy Birthday!!!!!!!!

Doing a great job Fed, some of your replies make me howl with laughter.

“How to win friends and influence people” could be your first book.

    Cheers

    Happy 1st, everyone.

I’m just wondering, Polly, what are you giving David for Xmas. He would be difficult to buy for if you know what I mean. How about a trip to Brazil, all expenses payed for? OK, kick me now.

Thank You David, this means a lot to all of us. The Fed said we will carry on until January . Let’s hope we can squeak it into March.

True Story: By the way, my wife’s birthday is Mar. 8th, our new dog is March 7th, did I forget somebody else? Go figure!! So ironic indeed.

We are tripping the light fantastic somewhere in the Carribeans for her Xmas and birthday present in March. Don’t know where though, any thoughts people??

    Undecided Frank Floyd.

  75. ThadC

Best wishes to all of you. The music and this community have been such a wonderful experience this year.
