I was listening to our local council debate for four hours on whether or not they should approve a zoning change for a condominium to be built where there had been a parking lot. This request had been in process for 19 years with many community consultations and at the last moment there were community members who attended a neighbouring church present at council opposing the zoning change because they wouldn’t have a free parking lot for the weekdays, in case they had a funeral to attend, the owners of the property had already made another parking lot available for the church’s use for weekend services and donated property to the City to make a park.
The zoning change, which had every level of approval and was an obviously better use of the land then a parking lot passed, after four hours and a defeated motion to delay it for yet another community consultation.

Wish I could give you something meaningful for your 62nd birthday. Don’t know what that could be really since I’ve received so much inspiration and comfort from your voice and music. I’ve taken up serious guitar lessons since OAI came out and have rediscovered my creative core…how’s that?

Well it’s been some 32 or 33 years ago that I seen Pink Floyd play in Vancouver, Canada. I’ve seen a lot of concerts over the years and the Floyd concert was and still the best sounding of them all. Back then I admired John Fogerty of C.C.R. on his work. And today, which is David’s Birthday, my favourite guitar player is Mr. Gilmour. I am inspired to learn more knowledge as I play/study the Guitar.
Happy birthday and look forward to more music of your work that is organized in “Time”. Polly has my blessings as well.

When I discovered Pink Floyd at the young age of 6 years old (Relics was the first album I listened too…go figure!!) I was truly amazed. Then I heard DSOTM and was mesmerized, the Guitar was amazing. I am now 14 and can not stop playing all the Floyd songs I know. Your music has changed my life for the better of things.

“Just to see him at play makes me smile.” Well, I guess that song isn’t quite appropriate to David’s birthday, but that line is good… : )
FEd, you don’t have to be too jealous about the Dylan/Costello concert because the management were real tightwads and Dylan spoke his lyrics the whole time in his smoked-out cowboy voice. There was one instant, in Like A Rolling Stone (the only old song that he performed) where he sang half a lyric and my roommate and I burst into tears. (Elvis was phenomenal, however, just him and his guitar.)
Anyhoo, one more, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, and many happy returns to David. Hopefully one day, someday, soon, I’ll be crying at a concert of yours for an entirely different reason. My roommate and I have vowed to get front row seats no matter what the cost… ; )
