Just look at where the comments came from: all over the world. And note the times they were sent: apart from the hours when I shut down, just to try and keep on top of things, there were messages coming in every minute. Sometimes up to ten in the space of a minute.

I’ve no doubt that another thousand would pour in before the night is out, then another, and another; but I don’t think Richard would have felt comfortable with thousands of tributes. He was a shy, modest man. I imagine he’d have thought us rather silly.

Instead, play those songs you made reference to, and keep his loved ones in your thoughts. Their loss is by far the greater (and his fans are hurting badly enough).

I apologise if you didn’t add your own tribute, but hope you can understand that now is a good time to close for quiet reflection.

Pink Floyd’s music has been present my entire life, and Mr. Wright’s melodies are exceptionally beautiful and his work and life, without any doubt, has reached its place in music history.

Richard was a very talented, articulate, soft spoken, genius.

Having suffered the loss of my father recently, all I can say is that I hope he did not suffer.

We should all carry forth good memories of the man and his contributions to our enjoyment. May this respect and memories grant you strength and lighten your mood. He will be missed.

My thoughts go out to his family and friends.

But… in a way, we will remember Richard for his great feeling playing and singing and for each precious moment that any of us lived listening to his music.
