One wonders how a marvellous human being such as David celebrates his birthday — surrounded by family I’m sure. I can picture his youngsters gathered round a homemade birthday cake set aflame with candles, his big wish made and the pouff as he blows out the candles with his kids, and the laughing and clapping of those around. Perhaps a nice glass of wine or two, a delicious dinner, a long walk in good company; the simple pleasures. Counting his blessings as his song says.
Longing to hear him play I must do the next best thing and that means tonight I’m attending a cover PF concert at the local music hall. All the while, I will pretend that it’s David up there and will raise a glass to him on this his birthday, wishing him good health, happiness and an urge to perform more of that heavenly music in the not too distant future.
