Days…
Let’s get back to normality, whatever that is, with some random nonsense, to help, I hope, blow some cobwebs away. On this ‘Tuesday Afternoon’, how about songs with a day in the title or lyric? I wonder if there are any which mention all seven days.
Alternatively, a song about days will do – like this one, a cover of The Kinks’ well-known 1968 hit single, by Kirsty MacColl.
You can opt for ‘Days of Wine and Roses’ (Andy Williams) or ‘Days of Pearly Spencer’ (David McWilliams), I don’t mind. ‘These Days’ (Nico), ‘Yellow Days’ (Frank Sinatra), ‘Strange Days’ (The Doors). Or a single day: ‘A Day in the Life’ (The Beatles), ‘Oh Happy Day’ (The Edwin Hawkins Singers), ‘Perfect Day’ (Lou Reed).
Whatever day or however many of them there are in your song selections, I hope you’re having a pleasant and peaceful to-day.
Perhaps we could even attempt our very own 30-Day Song Challenge (just not over 30 consecutive days; I don’t have the stamina or patience, I expect, for that). What do you think? That is, if you haven’t already been bored rigid by its plague-like infection of social networking sites. Suggestions for a custom list exclusive to our blog and ‘Irregular’ mindset are most welcome. The original list of teasers, should you wish to join in belatedly, can be found here.
The chatroom will be open tomorrow from 3pm (UK).

Herbert
Oh, I hear you. I could jump to 5pm Saturday and that post-match feel-good glow after a lazy afternoon, preferably in the sunshine, spent listening to live coverage of Liverpool beating Birmingham City comfortably (sorry, Julie).
But The Drifters? Or Whigfield?
Not wishing to be smug, of course, but five-nil! Happy days indeed.
(Sorry again, Julie.)

My guess is there are going to be a lot of repeats but a quick stab brings these to mind:
Pink Floyd – One of these Days
Pink Floyd – The Happiest Days of our Lives
U2 – Sunday, Bloody Sunday
Cat Stevens -Tuesday’s Dead
Janis Joplin – Ruby Tuesday
The Boomtown Rats – I Don’t Like Mondays
David Bowie’s cover of Friday On My Mind (only Saturday and Sunday are missing from the lyrics)
The Cure – Friday I’m In Love
Moody Blues – Tuesday Afternoon
Crowded House – Four Seasons in One Day
Smashing Pumpkins – Today
The Mamas & The Papas – Monday, Monday
Nat King Cole – Those Lazy, Hazy, Crazy Days of Summer
Avenged Sevenfold – Seize the Day (really great song)
Planet P Project – King for Day
Allman Brothers – Stormy Monday
Queen – A Day at the Races
Queen – These are the Days of our Lives
Soundgarden – Fell on Black Days
One Final Day – Gary Moore
Alan Parsons Project – Day After Day (The Show Must Go On)
Buddy Holly & the Crickets -That’ll be the Day
Stone Temple Pilots – Days of the Week (missing a couple of days here also)
Beatles – Eight Days a Week (if only!)
Bruce Springsteen – Glory Days
? – Twelve Days of Christmas (not sure whose version I prefer if at all)
The Kinks – All Day and All of the Night
Gordon Lightfoot – Rainy Day People
Jethro Tull – Skating Away on the Thin Ice of a New Day
Would love to take a crack at a 30-day song challenge but all at once… too fickle.
Nice list.
Gordon Lightfoot has put this tune in my head, though, and surely it’s too late in the day to be head-bopping and hip-hopping.
Time for Soundgarden, I think…
Oh my FEd! Too late in the day indeed.
Three days worth: Is Yesterday Tomorrow Today – Stereophonics
Love it. I was there, too.
“Write down all the things that you’d like to say
Write down all the things that you’d like to change
Write down all the places you’d like to stay
Write down anything that you want
Is yesterday tomorrow today?”
Don’t forget ‘Watch Them Fly Sundays’ from Just Enough Education to Perform. Or ‘Maybe Tomorrow’ from You Gotta Go There to Come Back (although I read the title and, forgive me, Kelly, I really want to hear the theme tune from The Littlest Hobo).
“Maybe tomorrow I’ll want to settle down
Until tomorrow I’ll just keep moving on”
A whole week!
You’re my Sunday
You make my Monday, come alive
Just like Tuesday, you’re a new day
That wakes me up
Wednesday’s raining
Thursday’s yearning
For Friday nights
Then it all ends at the weekend
You’re my star
You’re My Star
Sunday Bloody Sunday – U2
I Don’t Like Mondays – Boomtown Rats
…but Tuesday Afternoon is one of my favourites.
Tomasz
Stormy Monday Blues.
November Rain for a full month.
Well, Don Henley has ‘A Month of Sundays’. That sounds good to me.
Only one springs to mind…
Happy Days!
Simon J
Mamas & Papas – “Monday, Monday”

Grateful Dead – One More Saturday Night
King Crimson – Book of Saturday
Jefferson Airplane – Young Girl Sunday Blues
Green Day – Church on Sunday
U2 – Sunday Bloody Sunday
Stone Temple Pilots – Naked Sunday

Sterling effort, Alessandra. I couldn’t think of one for Wednesday. All I could think of was this, from The Cure:
“I don’t care if Monday’s blue
Tuesday’s grey and Wednesday, too
Thursday, I don’t care about you
It’s Friday, I’m in love”
That Tori Amos tune is much fun. Just checked it out, never heard of it before. Thanks!
I also think “Wednesday” is a nice song.
More tracks by two of the artists I already mentioned.
- David Bowie – Days / Day-In Day-Out / Sunday
- Cat Stevens – Child for a Day
‘Lo All.
Fed, just pressed the button for the blog experience whilst “listening to a bit of Bob”. Guess what was playing as I read? One of my favourite tracks…
P.S. I felt the force/Karma in the last Blog. Keep it up!
All the week days. Nice one, Bob. Five’s not bad at all.

- ‘Eight Days A Week’, The Beatles – ‘Eight Saturdays A Week’ would be better, though

- ‘Ruby Tuesday’, Rolling Stones

- ‘Dimanche à Bamako’, Amadou et Mariam… et… David Gilmour! (Crisis Benefit Concert in 2009)
This one? ‘Friday I’m In Love’, The Cure:
I don’t care if Monday’s blue
Tuesday’s grey and Wednesday too
Thursday I don’t care about you
It’s Friday, I’m in love
…
Saturday, wait
And Sunday always comes too late
But Friday, never hesitate…

Fed, it’s happened again, same scenario as last post. Different CD though. Again one of my favourite Bob tunes: Sun is Shining.
Not a transcendental song, I have to admit, but it does include all the week days:
‘Police On My Back’ – The Clash
Well I’m running, police on my back
I’ve been hiding, police on my back
There was a shooting, police on my back
And the victim well he wont come back
I been running Monday Tuesday Wednesday
Thursday Friday Saturday Sunday
Running Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday
Saturday Sunday
What have I done?

And, I read about Susan, I did not know her, but she seemed to have touched the lives of everyone here. Sorry for your loss.
I am relatively new here and post but every full moon. I am a huge DG and PF fan, so I think you’ll get to like me once you get to know me.
What happens during the full moon, Azure?
I bet you didn’t expect this:

-AlmondsGuy
Hi FEd,
Here’s a belated A2Z for you… (I’ve been away down in the West Country for a week, prior to my son’s Wedding, on St.George’s Day. So please forgive me if the majority of this selection has a somewhat melancholic, matrimonial mood, meandering throughout…)

Good to hear.
‘Another Day in Paradise’ – about the plight of the homeless. Good call.
I think David Crosby sings on it, if I’m not mistaken.
Well its raining here and the only song I can think of is Friday, I’m In Love by the Cure.
I just wish it would stop raining here for its been going on now for over two months and I may have to build an Ark.
Have a great week, Thomas
Blondie – Sunday Girl
