'David, and black Strat, at the Odeon (Leicester Square, London, September 2007)If you haven’t yet seen it, Fender’s microsite for the David Gilmour Stratocaster is now up, so have a butcher’s.

A break from the fine Piotr Tarasewicz GdaÅ„sk shots for today. This one’s another of Frank’s, from Leicester Square last year.

You too could be striking that very same pose with your own black Strat soon (ish). Probably not a good idea to try striking it in Leicester Square, though. You know what crowds are like.

Thanks again, Frank.

Just a reminder that there’s more from Later… with Jools Holland tomorrow night on BBC2, as well as an hour from the GdaÅ„sk gig and a 30-minute documentary (on BBC4).

That might interest a few more of you now that many poor souls are still waiting for their postie to deliver their five-disc bundle of joy. (You’ll have yours before Friday night, I’m sure.)

For those of you thinking of downloading the album from iTunes, now you’ll only get ‘Wot’s…’ if you’re in Europe. (Sorry!)

The word is that the new release date for Poland is Monday. Please take that with a pinch of salt, just in case. It does sound wildly optimistic, no offence to EMI Poland.

Saturday is still the all-important day for Australia, and Monday for France and the vinyl.

By the way, SoundStage Direct’s price for the LPs is now $98.99 (US).

Frank and Steve DiStanislao at Leicester Square, 6 September 2007

As difficult as it may be to believe, many of you were loitering around Leicester Square this time last year, waiting for the European premiere of ‘Remember That Night’.

If you were there and have anything to say on the matter, please go ahead.

And if you were watching in cinemas around Europe, we’d also love to hear from you.

Today’s photo, kindly sent in by Frank, is of him meeting Steve DiStanislao inside the Odeon.

Thank you for sharing it with us, Frank.

Sky Arts will be broadcasting 75 minutes from ‘Remember That Night’ tonight. So, if you’re a Sky customer, tune in to Sky Arts (channel 256) or Sky Arts HD (channel 257) from 21:00 (UK).

Last, but by no means least… If you’re still waiting for details on those US cinemas involved in the ‘Live in GdaÅ„sk’ premiere, all I can say is that the full list will be on the Latest News page as soon as possible.

David rehearsing in Gdańsk, 26 August 2006

Seeing as some of you have already heard this news over the airwaves this evening…

Do tune in to Radcliffe & Maconie for a live ‘Echoes’ exclusive on Wednesday 24 September.

As well as ‘Echoes’ in all its glory, David will chat.

You can listen online, either live (Listen in the top-right) or by selecting Listen Again (scroll down the page and select the desired day; you have a full week after the broadcast to do so).

That’s Wednesday 24 September between 20:00 and 22:00 (UK), BBC Radio 2.

If you’re in the UK, you can find Radio 2 at 88-91 FM, listen through your DAB
digital radio or even your television: channel 0102 on Sky, 902 on Virgin and 702 on Freeview.

Stuart Maconie, you may recall, compèred the ‘Remember That Night’ premiere at London’s Leicester Square last year.

Don’t forget the current issue of Mojo magazine, available now, which is worth picking up. It’s the one with Queen on the cover.

The prizes/draws are as follows (feel free to opt-out of any draw, if you so wish):

Wednesday 12 December: Premiere Draw, four winners

One programme, from the ‘Remember That Night’ premieres, signed by David, plus an Odeon Leicester Square VIP pass. Three runner-up prizes of an unsigned programme and pass.

Friday 14 December: DVD Draw, two winners

- One Best Buy ‘Remember That Night’ DVD (Region 1), with three-track CD.
- One Borders ‘Remember That Night’ DVD (Region 1), with poster.

We kick-off this evening with a special prize draw just for the ladies.

We have two brand new, never-before-seen David Gilmour scarves – of all things – (one in navy, one in crimson), which are due for production next year.

Made in Uruguay from 100% pure lambswool, embroidered with tassels, no less, they both have the wireman logo at one end and the now-familiar ‘David Gilmour’ logo at the other. The navy one has white embroidery, the crimson one has black.

The winners of these are Lynn (42) and Stephanie (57).

Well done, both. Please let me know where your prizes should be sent.

The chatroom will be open tomorrow from 3PM (UK time), should you wish to talk about scarves, or anything else.

Here’s a bit more from Phil Taylor…

Are the red Strats modified, besides the EMG and electronics? Perhaps a pre-CBS or Callaham bridge block? (Ernest Peske)

Not currently. They have had different parts: bridge saddles, string trees and springs at times.

It’s been said that Eric Clapton retired Blackie because the guitar became unplayable. With electric guitars, and particularly Strats, being so interchangeable (swapping necks, changing electronics, etc.), can a guitar like a Strat truly become unplayable, and, if so, how much more life do you estimate is left for David’s black Strat? (Andrew)

Parts can always be replaced on a Strat. See my book ‘The Black Strat’ for all of the changes to David’s.

I was wondering, was David’s black Strat used on ‘Live at Pompeii’, or could it possibly be the Strat that El Magnifico used on last year’s tour? (Amedeo)

No, see my book, ‘The Black Strat’, for more information.

February, 2007: Jamming at David's Barn. Photo: Polly Samson.I’ve happily given away some programmes commemorating the two cinema events at the Odeon and Ritzy. Now I’d like to give away some more, and David has very kindly signed some of them.

If you’d like one, all you have to do is tell me why you want one, using no more than five short sentences.

Only trusted regular contributors will be considered eligible recipients of such a rare, signed item.

Runners-up will receive an identical, non-signed programme.

These were only available in the UK, don’t forget: at the two London premieres, as well as the 14 participating cinemas.

If you attended either Odeon or Ritzy premiere, we know that, chances are, you already have a programme (or two, three, four, five…). And I know who attended, of course. The same goes for anyone who attended any participating UK cinema on Thursday 6 September.

Therefore, I’ll only send the non-signed ones to addresses outside the UK, due to the fact that these are still being auctioned at ridiculous prices by UK fans. I have no desire whatsoever to assist anyone with their shameless profiteering.

Furthermore, David has given some signed items to Crisis, the homelessness charity, to auction on eBay. Unlike the people trying to make a quick buck, any money raised from these auctions will assist Crisis with their work. I’ll let you know when they’re up and running, should you wish to place a bid.

So, tell me why you think you should have one, include the name of your country, and please do so by 12 midday (UK) tomorrow.

You have exactly 24-hours, so please put some thought into it. Don’t be boring. Sincerity is good, honesty is always a delight (believe me, I know) and it’s also good to laugh. Your entry has to stand out to stand a chance of winning.

Only one entry per person, please. Good luck to all of you.

The chatroom has just opened, should you wish to call in. Closing time today is at 2PM (UK time).

February, 2007: Jamming at David's Barn. Photo: Polly Samson.IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: ANOTHER DELAY (19/10/07)

‘Remember That Night’ will finally (yes, really) be released in Brazil on Friday 26 October.

I’d like to sincerely apologise – on behalf of Sony BMG – to David’s many passionate Brazilian fans for this late date. I know how irritating these delays are, and can only say that I’m truly sorry for the frequent disappointment caused.

The DVD is worth waiting for, I can promise you that much.

The winners of Friday’s 12-hour raffle are as follows:

- Signed David Gilmour lithograph print: Emilio (#99)
- Best Buy exclusive ‘Remember That Night’ DVD: Pete (#8)
- Promo CD, as issued to radio stations: Piero (#84)
- ‘Remember That Night’ programme/pass: Chris (#38)

Well done, all. Please let us know where we should send your prizes.

‘Remember That Night’ is finally released in Brazil today. I hope you enjoy it and, as always, look forward to hearing your views.

The chatroom is closed today, but will be open tomorrow from 9AM (UK time).

February, 2007: Jamming at David's Barn. Photo: Polly Samson. You seem to have enjoyed my 24-hour contests, so here’s a 12-hour equivalent.

All you have to do, making use of just one number (between one and 100), is share a piece of trivia about ‘Remember That Night’. For example, the DVD was released in Germany on 17 September, or ‘Remember That Night’ has topped the Music DVD charts in 12 countries so far.

Your number is your raffle ticket substitute. You can only have one, and nobody else can have the same one as you (so, the first person to pick a specific number gets to use it).

Please get your entry in by 9PM (UK) today. Just one entry per person, please. If you choose a number that’s already been used, you will be asked to choose another, so please take note of any numbers already in play, or include a second choice with your post.

If your chosen number isn’t obvious, please make it so.

If, as the deadline draws near, you’re left stuck for entertaining trivia, you can take the easy way out and write something like, “My favourite live song is ‘Take A Breath’, which is track 12 on the DVD” (even if it isn’t your favourite track – I won’t hold you to anything).

Winners to be announced on Monday.

The prizes include a signed lithograph print, a Best Buy copy of the ‘Remember That Night’ DVD, a radio promo CD and a programme/pass from the European cinematic premiere.

Good luck, and have a good weekend.

Remember That Night DVD (2007)Well, what did you think of that, then?

I’d love to know how you enjoyed Thursday’s premiere of ‘Remember That Night’, shown at cinemas across Europe.

Where did you see it? What was it like? Who did you meet? How did you enjoy the live performance? What did you think of the questions and answers? Favourite song? Favourite moment? Could you bear to go through it all again on Saturday in Brixton?

I want to know each and every juicy detail, so bring it on.

If you’ve already written at length in preparation for the blog’s re-opening – yes, I know who you are – please could you post it in bite-size pieces? There is a character limit in place and, as well as making it easier for everyone to read if it’s not too extensive, I obviously wouldn’t want your message to be truncated.

Thank you.

Remember That Night DVD (2007)IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: CONTEST CANCELLED

Apologies for the disappointment, but it has been decided that any tickets that we are able obtain should be given to those who fell victim to the Odeon’s double-booking error, which has left fans without tickets for Thursday’s UK & Europe premiere.

Sadly, there is an insufficient supply of spares and no returns in circulation, so we cannot help in the way in which we intervened during the Royal Albert Hall shows last year, for example.

Presently, this contest is only raising people’s hopes (especially when some clearly don’t read more than a few words beyond tickets and grabs).

So, regrettably, I have no Leicester Square tickets for you. Please don’t put your name down for non-existent tickets.

If I can help, I will contact you tomorrow, but I make no guarantees.

There are still tickets available for the North American premiere in Brixton on Saturday 15 September, however. This will be much the same as Leicester Square, with a live performance and Q&A, only in a smaller setting.

If you’d like tickets for The Ritzy, please click here.

Following on from last week’s Ritzy give-away, I now have some tickets for Leicester Square up for grabs.

How many, I don’t know.

However, if you were unable to purchase tickets, or if you were one of the unfortunate souls caught up in the Odeon’s double-booking error, do let us know and I’ll see what I can do to help.

As before, all I ask is that you tell me your full name and full address, as well as your guest’s.

Don’t forget that there is a pre-show fan get-together arranged at the Imperial pub on Leicester Street from 5PM (UK) on Thursday. Everyone is welcome, so why not call in for a quick drink?

There are still some tickets left for the Ritzy, too. I’ll let you know who gets them just as soon as our allocation has gone.

Last, but certainly not least, I’d like to thank you all for sending in a question for David. There were so many good ones to choose from, it really wasn’t easy whittling the list down. However, whittled it, I did, and I have now contacted the senders of my favourite 20 questions: ten for each premiere.

I have also sworn them all to secrecy to keep an element of surprise; although, as I keep stressing, there is no guarantee that all 20 will be used, so we’re all in for a surprise.

If you did not receive e-mail notification on Thursday (UK & Europe) or today (North America), then, regrettably, your question was not selected. However, I hope you will enjoy David’s answers to the questions that did make it through, and are sure that you’ll all enjoy the premieres on Thursday 6 September (Europe) and Saturday 15 September (North America).

There are still some tickets available. For a complete list of European venues, click here. And don’t forget Canada and the United States.

Remember That Night DVD (2007)If you’re somewhat baffled, then Name That Tune was an old television quiz show where contestants had to identify a song title after hearing just a few bars of music.

We’re doing it with pictures instead.

Dare you hazard a guess as to which song David is playing above?

You can click on the image for a closer look, if it helps.

If you haven’t yet sent in your question for David, then you’re slowly running out of time. The deadline is this coming Friday at 5PM (UK).

Please click here to leave your question at the right place – and do be sure to read the rules first. They’re right at the top of the page. You can’t miss them. (Well, some of you clearly are missing them…)

I need to know your real name and whereabouts. Leave this information out and your question will not be considered. It really is that simple.

These are questions from anyone in Europe, and anyone due to attend a cinema where ‘Remember That Night’ is being shown on Thursday 6 September only, don’t forget.

The questions for the North American premiere – on Saturday 15 September – have been chosen and will be announced, along with the European ones, towards the end of next week – at the very earliest.

However, please be aware that not all shortlisted questions will be used on the night. This is due to the cinemas requiring some flexibility. Consequently, even if your question is chosen and you send in your video, audio and photo, there is a chance that your question, unfortunately, will not be used. Obviously, this is out of my hands.

I just wanted to make that clear up front, so that everyone knows the deal.

The same applies for both UK & Europe and North American premieres.

There’s a new poll about the Q&A sessions, so do cast your vote.

The chatroom is open tomorrow between 4PM and 6PM (UK).

Remember That Night DVD (2007)IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: EXTRA VENUE, SWEDEN

Another venue has just been added to the list for Sweden: Torslanda.

That makes a total of 15 Swedish cinemas.

Please click here for full details and to order your tickets.

As you are no doubt aware, David’s new DVD, ‘Remember That Night: David Gilmour Live at The Royal Albert Hall’, will be premiered in Europe and North America next month.

This means 85 glorious minutes from the concert in the technological sweet shop that is a modern cinema environment.

As if that wasn’t enough, it will be broadcast to all participating cinemas, in High Definition, live via satellite from London.

And is if that’s not enough to whet your appetite, David is also going to be performing one live song (on electric guitar) and taking part in a live Q&A… which you can be involved in.

From today, I want your questions for David.

I’ve already had an absolute bagful of questions from fans for the North American Q&A – thanks very much – and the ‘best’ have now been chosen, so please don’t bother sneaking in another one here.

I only want questions for the UK & Europe premiere now.

So, if you’re in Europe, or if you will be going to see ‘Remember That Night’ at one of the cinemas in Europe, do send in a question.

All I ask is that it has nothing to do with Pink Floyd reunions, tribute bands or your demos, and that you keep it short and sweet.

As before, you may only submit one question each. In the interest of fairness, should you send in a list of questions, all will be considered ineligible. Indeed, the only entries that will be considered eligible will be presented exactly as follows.

Please copy and paste the following into the comment form below. You don’t need to give your full name or address. This information will be published for all to see, so please only add what you feel comfortable with sharing, but I do need a real name and region.

Real name:
Town/city, county and country:

I will/will not (please specify) be attending a participating European cinema. (Tell us which one, if you want to.)

Question:

You have until Friday 24 August at 5PM (UK) to submit your question. No questions will be considered after this time, so please don’t leave it until the last minute and miss out on this opportunity.

This next bit is obvious, but very important: Please do not send a question unless you are happy to record yourself asking it. Remember that your videos will be played at cinemas right across Europe. Everybody present at this cinema event will see, and hear, you – including David. He will then answer your question.

BBC Radio 2 will also be broadcasting some of the questions on the night, so everyone will be able to ‘tune in’ online.

If you are not prepared to do this, which is perfectly understandable, please do not submit a question.

Tickets are still available for this exciting event, which takes place on Thursday 6 September in Europe. For full details, see previous entries concerning Austria, Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden and the UK.

There are some tickets left for the UK & Europe premiere at London’s Leicester Square, which is where David will be, but I don’t expect them to be there for long.

If you’ll be going to Leicester Square and want to meet fellow fans before the event, please see details of the meet-up that is arranged from 5PM at the Imperial pub on Leicester Street. Everyone is welcome, so do add your name to the list.

And please do keep clicking the button below to vote this the Best Music Blog. I am open to bribery. (I’m not really.)

Remember That Night DVD (2007)IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: DENMARK

News just in that there will be just one cinema showing ‘Remember That Night’ in Denmark (Copenhagen).

Tickets for Palads København go on sale at midnight (CET) tonight from this website.

I have a nice surprise for fans in Austria this evening.

I’m delighted to be able to tell you that six cinemas will be sharing the ‘Remember That Night’ experience on Thursday 6 September.

They are:

- Cineplexx GRAZ,
Theatre 6, 8055 Graz, Alte Poststraße 470

- Cineplexx HOHENEMS,
Theatre 9, 6845 Hohenems, Lustenauerstraße 112

- Cineplexx INNSBRUCK,
Theatre 1, 6020 Innsbruck, Tschamlerstraße 7

- Cineplexx LINZ,
Theatre 1, 4020 Linz, Prinz Eugenstraße 22

- Cineplexx REICHSBRÜCKE,
Theatre 4, 1220 Vienna, Wagramer Straße 2

- Cineplexx SALZBURG Airport,
Theatre 1, 5073 Wals – Himmelreich, Kasernenstraße 5a

Tickets will be priced at €20 and go on sale on Friday 24 August. They are available at the cinemas and also online.

At each cinema involved in this event, you can see 85-minutes of footage, from the Royal Albert Hall concerts of last May, premiered in High Definition a week before it’s released on DVD. As well as the concert footage, David will also be performing one song live and taking part in a Q&A. All this will be broadcast, live via satellite, from London.

It’s going to be a wonderful event and I hope you’re looking forward to it as much as we are.

I also hope that this news encourages many more fans to submit a question for David when I invite questions for the UK & Europe Q&A on Monday. I’d love questions from fans from all over Europe.

You don’t have to be attending one of the cinema shows to qualify. The only rule is that you only send in one question and that it has nothing whatsoever to do with Pink Floyd reunions, tribute bands or demo recordings.

Tickets are still available for participating cinemas in Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden and the UK. There are just a few tickets left for the UK & Europe premiere at London’s Leicester Square, however.

There has been one addition to the list of participating venues in Sweden: Nynäshamn. Although it has not yet been added to the FHP website, click here for booking details.

There was an earlier entry today, so be sure to read the one before this one.

Have a good weekend, all.

Remember That Night DVD (2007).With so many of you attending the UK & Europe premiere of ‘Remember That Night: David Gilmour Live at The Royal Albert Hall’ on Thursday 6 September at London’s Leicester Square, I thought you might welcome a dedicated space to arrange a pre-show get-together.

Everyone is very welcome, so don’t be shy. If you know of a good place to meet for a drink before the event, send us your suggestions. Or, when a venue is agreed upon, just drop in on the evening and join in. A warm welcome is guaranteed to all.

Two suggestions so far, courtesy of Howard, are:

- The Imperial, 5 Leicester Street, WC2H 7BL and
- The Moon Under Water, 28 Leicester Square, WC2H 7LE.

5PM seems like a good time to start, perhaps to get a few pints in before making your way across to the Odeon? Thoughts, please.

More thorough plans can be drawn up (directions for those that need them, a fixed meeting point for all, etc.).

Please note that e-mail addresses will not be published. I will only publish a recognised venue and an approximate time.

Please keep your questions for David rolling in. There have been some very good ones. Just please be sure to leave yours at the right place… Say, here? If it ends up anywhere else, it won’t count.

I only want questions for the North American premiere this week. I’ll take questions for the European event all next week, so bear with me. You’ll have a full week to submit your question and as much consideration as the current batch of questions are receiving, so your patience could pay off.

Thank you all very much for nominating, and voting, us the Best Music Blog in BT’s annual Digital Music Awards. It’s very kind of you to do so. Should you get the crazy urge, you can vote each day, which means that you won’t be able to avoid the snazzy pink button until voting closes on 30 September.

You can also help make it a DavidGilmour.com double, by voting us Best Official Music Site.

With that out of the way (God, I feel so dirty), here’s the latest from Phil Manzanera.

I’d read in an interview last year that you met David through your older brother. David agreed to meet to lend advice on getting started in the music business. What are your memories of that meeting and your initial impressions of him? (Buffalo Phil)

It was 1968 and I’d just turned 17. I distinctly remember the Italian restaurant and this person that looked identical to the David sitting on the stool on the cover of ‘Ummagumma’. Neither of us can remember what we spoke about, but David says it must have been good because I ended up in Roxy Music four years later.

Were you a fan of the Floyd 25 years ago? (Sylvie)

Damn right… and well before.

When did you work with David for the first time? (Ina)

1987. We worked together writing on a couple of tracks for Pink Floyd’s ‘Momentary Lapse of Reason’ album. One track, called ‘One Slip’, ended up on the album.

I was wondering if there was any particular reason why you didn’t dig out ‘One Slip’ for the tour, as you co-wrote it with David? (Jonathan)

No room on the list.

Could you compare the making of ‘A Momentary Lapse of Reason’ with the making of ‘On an Island’? I mean, how is it different to work with Floyd’s Gilmour and solo Gilmour? (Adriano Capeto)

No different, it’s the same person.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: DIGITAL MUSIC AWARDS (14/08/07)

We’ve once again been nominated for the Best Music Blog award at BT’s annual DMAs.

If you’d like to vote for us, please click the button below (ignoring the way it says “Vote for me!”, as your vote is obviously recognition of each and every person that contributes here).

Voting closes on 30 September. The winner will be announced on 2 October.

Thank you.

Our very patient friends in Sweden have been waiting for this news for a while now, so I’m very happy to be able to inform you that the cinematic premiere of ‘Remember That Night’ will be shown in the following 13 areas:

Åseda, Boxholm, Emmaboda, Filipstad, Gislaved, Gusum, Haparanda, Höör, Kallhäll, Lammhult, Lövånger, Söråker and Tomelilla.

Please click here for more on individual venues.

Tickets cost 190 SEK. I’ll have details on how to order soon.

This event is on the evening of Thursday 6 September.

You get 85-minutes of concert footage from David’s forthcoming DVD, ‘Remember That Night’, in glorious High Definition. David will also be performing one song live, as well as participating in a Q&A… which you can be involved in. This will be transmitted, live, via satellite from London’s Leicester Square.

This is all I know for now, so please continue to be patient. Unfortunately, I cannot tell you anything else until further details have been finalised, but there will be an update for Sweden this week – with the possibility of more venues being added to the above list.

I’m taking questions for the North American Q&A this week, but will invite questions from fans in Europe (or anyone who will be attending this event in any European cinema) next week.

Tickets are still available for participating cinemas in Germany, the Netherlands and the UK, including the UK & Europe premiere at London’s Leicester Square.

The chatroom will be open between 10AM and 12PM tomorrow.

May 18 & 19, 2006: Rehearsing at Bray Film Studios.

On Monday, I’ll start taking your questions for David (for the North American premiere of ‘Remember That Night: David Gilmour Live at The Royal Albert Hall’).

As you know, David will take part in a live Q&A session… twice. These will be broadcast, live via satellite, to all participating cinemas in Europe (on Thursday 6 September) and North America (on Saturday 15 September).

There will also be a quick live performance and 85-minutes of concert footage (taken from David’s forthcoming DVD, ‘Remember That Night’), broadcast in High Definition.

Please read the following carefully before deciding whether or not you wish to submit a question.

Anyone can ask a question. You don’t have to be attending one of the cinemas. You don’t have to be in North America or Europe.

But you do need to leave your question at the right place.

The next entry will be entitled ‘North American Q&A’.

If you are in North America, or if you will be attending a cinema in North America, please leave your question at the ‘North American Q&A’ entry.

If you are in Europe, or if you will be attending a cinema in Europe, please do not leave your question at the ‘North American Q&A’ entry. There will be an entry entitled ‘UK & Europe Q&A’, so please be patient and wait for that.

If you are anywhere else in the world, for argument’s sake, please leave your question beneath ‘North American Q&A’ if your copy of ‘On An Island’ has the Sony logo on the back. If you see the EMI logo, please wait for ‘UK & Europe Q&A’.

You may only send one question each. Submit a list of questions and all of them will be ignored.

Anyone found trying to cheat the system with multiple questions will immediately be disqualified.

No questions about Pink Floyd reforming, please. They won’t get far. Neither will questions about tribute bands, the best way to kick-start a career in music, or the possibility of David listening to your demos.

This is a unique opportunity, so “Dude, when are you coming to Miami?” deserves a slap, rather than any part in this exciting event.

A friendly tip: I like short, snappy questions.

There will be a clear format for submitting your question, which must be adhered to. This requires:

- Your real name (doesn’t have to be your full name)
- Your town/city, state (if applicable) and country
- If you will be attending one of the participating North American cinemas (tell me which one, if you wish)
- Your question

Quite simply, if this information is not provided, your question will not count.

Please note that this information, and all eligible questions, will be published for all to see.

This does not mean that, if you see your question, you should grab your camera. I will let you know which questions I choose to put to David, so do not make any recordings unless you hear from us.

As for the videos, then your recording must be of good quality. Filming yourself on your mobile ‘phone will not do. Remember, this video will be shown on very large cinema screens.

Nobody wants pixelation problems, which is why we insist that you must include a high-resolution photograph of yourself, plus an audio recording, along with your video (just in case your video isn’t up to standard).

Technical issues will determine what ends up on the cinema screen: your photo, or your video. If you send poor quality video, your photo and audio will be used instead of video. If you have any doubts about your video, please just send a photo and an audio recording of you asking your question in a loud, clear voice. Video is not necessary.

Everyone has an equal chance of their question being selected. I’ll pick the ones I like best.

You will have one week – from Monday until Friday 17 August – to send in your question, so don’t rush. Get your question right, because, once it is submitted, it will not be changed.

No further questions will be considered after 5PM (UK) on Friday.

Finally, but very importantly: do not send in a question unless you are prepared to record yourself asking it. Remember, this recording will be played at some 200 cinemas across Europe and North America. Everybody inside these cinemas will see, and hear, you.

If you are not able, or prepared, to provide us with video, audio and a photo, please do not submit a question.

I look forward to receiving your questions – North America only, don’t forget – on Monday.

Tickets are priced at $12.95 (plus tax).

Yesterday’s Name That Tune teaser was ‘This Heaven’. Well done if you guessed correctly.

Remember That Night DVD (2007)Any idea which song is being performed in this picture? You know all 23 songs from disc one now, including the five bonus tracks on disc two, so what do you think?

Simply click the above image to see a high-resolution version of it.

There are now just 10 (count ‘em) weeks to wait until ‘Remember That Night’ is released on DVD: on Monday 17 September in Europe and  Tuesday 18 September everywhere else. Those weeks will fly by, you’ll see.

More news on the cinemas to come, so please continue to be patient.

Here’s the next instalment in our Phil Manzanera Q&A.

Please take note of the kind of questions that make it through, if you’re thinking of submitting one for David to answer at the ‘Remember That Night’ premiere on Tuesday 6 September.

If you already have your question prepared, please don’t send it to us yet. I don’t want them until next week, possibly the week after.

Chris Thomas joined David and you for the “final push for the last 3 months”, and at that stage the album was very acoustic and very orchestral. David didn’t add any electric guitar until the final month!!! Did you and Chris have to do much coercing to persuade David to add the electric stuff? (Ken F)

No, David wanted to leave his electric playing until the songs and melodies were fully developed, although the electric on ‘Where We Start’ was there from the original demo.

In your opinion, is any of the material not used for the ‘On an Island’ sessions strong enough to be released? (Peter McConnell)

Definitely.

What was your process for learning the songs for the tour? Did you sit down with David and run through things, or listen to recordings and learn on your own? (George Gipe)

Tried to learn from the CDs, then asked David how (as I was meant to double some of his parts, exactly how he played them). Then an intensive rehearsal period.

How much fun was it doing this tour? (Paulo)

It was a very special, unique tour and there are so many great memories… some of which you will be able to see on the forthcoming DVD. Before the tour, we put in a lot of hours rehearsing and working on the shape of the concert, so from the beginning of the tour, we were a tight unit. We had many great times on and off stage. Lots of laughter in dressing rooms across the world.

I believe the tour was a family affair with most of the band bringing their children etc., but who in the band did you get on with best while on tour? (Tom B)

Claire, the tour publicist (my wife).
