Gilmourettes in London for the North American premiere of 'Remember That Night'

My favourite fan photo for the merry month of May is this one.

That’s Becky, Melissa and Tracy, in London for the North American premiere of ‘Remember That Night’, last year.

Love those T-shirts, ladies!

If you have a snap to share, please get it online and let me know where I can find it. There are many more to come, but additional offerings are always welcome.

I’m sure that we’d all like to know the stories behind the photos, too…

The Black StratIMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: COMPETITION WINNER ANNOUNCED (16/11/07)

Frank Par wins a signed copy of ‘The Black Strat’.

Well done, Frank. Please let us know where we should send your prize.

Phil Taylor’s book, ‘The Black Strat: A History Of David Gilmour’s Black Fender Stratocaster’, can now be ordered from TheBlackStrat.com. This is the only way to obtain one at present. You cannot order it anywhere else, although this could well change in the not-too-distant future. I’ll keep you updated on that.

Written to accompany Fender’s long-awaited Gilmour Signature Strat, the book is a must-have for guitarist and non-guitarist alike, owing to its magazine-style mix of photos (there are many never-before-seen shots) and facts. There’s also plenty of technical detail and history.

This Strat will not be available this year. However, when it does become available, should you wish to purchase one, you will also get a copy of Phil’s book, a copy of the ‘Remember That Night’ DVD and a set of GHS strings, all housed in a special case.

Courtesy of Phil, I have a signed copy of ‘The Black Strat’ for you to win.

To be in with a shout, just visit TheBlackStrat.com and take any one word from the homepage, looking carefully at the title. Then post it here, with your daily comment.

No more than one word, no need to explain why you chose it, but please make your chosen word very clear.

Those who opt for the word that I have chosen will be entered into a raffle, with one name selected at random on Friday, when the winner will be announced.

One entry per person only, please. Entries must be submitted by 9.30AM (UK), Friday 16 November.

Good luck.

Once you’ve done that, please click here, see the bottom-left of the page, and vote responsibly. Planet Rock hope to determine the Best (Living) Guitarist, and we all remember ‘Comfortably Numb’, ‘Echoes’ and ‘Take A Breath’ from last year’s tour, don’t we?

And, once you’ve done all that, you can enjoy some more of Phil’s answers to your questions.

I heard you removed the Alembic Pre from this rig this tour. I work at Guitar Center and one morning I see that we all are looking for a vintage one because you called… or something along those lines. Why was it removed and is it going back now? (Matt Surdin)

It was not me who called, I have a few already. The modified Alembics are only used in David’s big Pink Floyd rig – which has not been out since 1994 – and another one with the Yamaha RA200 cabinet, last used in David’s barn earlier this year. See Polly’s photos.

I know David uses a big rack of effects, but, when I went to the Ritzy, he only used one amp and got his distinctive sound. What amp was it and were other effects used from the desk? (Anthony Green)

Get some new glasses. He used two amps: a 1958 Fender Tweed Twin and a 1958 Magnatone 280A, with one of his effects valve pedalboards that I had made.

I’m wondering how you made the black Strat so incredibly quiet on stage! What has changed since the last Pink Floyd tour, when David was still using EMG pickups? (Ben)

Nothing has changed on the guitar. The source of this problem is normally generated from the touring lighting and effects systems. This is picked up by the guitar’s single coil pickups and amplified as noise and interference. The improved designs these days mean that there are few problems. David has great control over his equipment and the way he uses it, and is very good at getting through a show with interference and masking it if needed.

September 15, 2007: Remember That Night at the Ritzy Picturehouse. Photo: Polly Samson. The above photograph, taken by Polly, is from the Ritzy in Brixton. This is where David premiered ‘Remember That Night’ for the benefit of North American cinema audiences (back in September).

And it’s just asking for a caption, really, isn’t it? So, over to you.

The prize is an exclusive four-track ‘Live from Abbey Road’ CD, available only in the US to those who pledge money to PBS. (Basically, pledge more than a certain sum, as will be decided by each local station, for a copy of ‘Remember That Night’ and you get the exclusive CD thrown in free.)

The CD comes in a cardboard case, is shrink-wrapped, and features the following tracks, recorded live at Abbey Road last year: ‘The Blue’, ‘On An Island’, ‘Take A Breath’ and ‘Smile’.

As you’ll expect from the prize, there is a PBS television special coming up. Details to follow very soon.

One caption per person only, please, to be submitted no later than 6PM (UK) on Friday 9 November. Winners will be announced on Monday.

Thank you for your varied comments about the ringtones. I don’t think anyone really needs more, which is why the previous entry is now missing a comment form, but some of us do appreciate your feedback.

‘Remember That Night’ is released in Japan today.

Last, but by no means least, the chatroom will next be open tomorrow between 10AM and 12PM (UK).

February, 2007: Jamming at David's Barn. Photo: Polly Samson.I’ve happily given away some programmes commemorating the two cinema events at the Odeon and Ritzy. Now I’d like to give away some more, and David has very kindly signed some of them.

If you’d like one, all you have to do is tell me why you want one, using no more than five short sentences.

Only trusted regular contributors will be considered eligible recipients of such a rare, signed item.

Runners-up will receive an identical, non-signed programme.

These were only available in the UK, don’t forget: at the two London premieres, as well as the 14 participating cinemas.

If you attended either Odeon or Ritzy premiere, we know that, chances are, you already have a programme (or two, three, four, five…). And I know who attended, of course. The same goes for anyone who attended any participating UK cinema on Thursday 6 September.

Therefore, I’ll only send the non-signed ones to addresses outside the UK, due to the fact that these are still being auctioned at ridiculous prices by UK fans. I have no desire whatsoever to assist anyone with their shameless profiteering.

Furthermore, David has given some signed items to Crisis, the homelessness charity, to auction on eBay. Unlike the people trying to make a quick buck, any money raised from these auctions will assist Crisis with their work. I’ll let you know when they’re up and running, should you wish to place a bid.

So, tell me why you think you should have one, include the name of your country, and please do so by 12 midday (UK) tomorrow.

You have exactly 24-hours, so please put some thought into it. Don’t be boring. Sincerity is good, honesty is always a delight (believe me, I know) and it’s also good to laugh. Your entry has to stand out to stand a chance of winning.

Only one entry per person, please. Good luck to all of you.

The chatroom has just opened, should you wish to call in. Closing time today is at 2PM (UK time).

September 6, 2007: Rehearsing at the Odeon Leicester Square, London. Photo: Polly Samson. How did yesterday’s North American premiere of ‘Remember That Night’ go? Do tell.

I’d love to know where you saw it and what you thought of it – and everything in between, of course.

I’d also be very interested to hear from the fans that were invited to the Ritzy. I hope you had a good time.

Again, please post lengthy comments in bite-size pieces. There is a character limit in place and I would hate for your messages to be missing a proper ending.

The ‘Remember That Night’ DVD will be in shops across Europe (except for Finland and Sweden) tomorrow.

Remember That Night DVD (2007)Thank you all for your comments about Thursday’s UK & Europe premiere of ‘Remember That Night: David Gilmour Live At The Royal Albert Hall’. Whether you were with David at the Odeon in London’s Leicester Square, or at any of the other cinemas across Europe, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed hearing about your night.

Particularly for those for whom English is a second language, you might like to read a transcript from the Odeon Q&A session here. Video is to follow shortly, so keep your eyes peeled for Latest News.

I thought you might like a dedicated space to arrange another pre-show get-together in advance of Saturday’s North American premiere – yes, that’s this Saturday: Saturday 15 September – which is to be broadcast live to 166 cinemas across Canada and the US, from the Ritzy in Brixton, London.

Everyone is welcome to join the party, so don’t be shy. There is a bar on the premises. However, if you know of a better place to meet for a drink and a chin-wag before the show starts, do send your suggestions.

There are still tickets available at some cinemas. For full details, please see previous entries concerning Canada and the US.

If you can make it to the Ritzy at short notice and would like to be on my back-up list, please send in your full name and address. However, please understand that there can be no guarantee that you will be contacted with the offer of tickets.

Please also note that this is a private event and you will only get in if your name is on the list. I would strongly discourage anyone from turning up on the night, fancying their chances of blagging their way in.

The film starts at 8PM (UK), but part of the ‘Breaking Bread, Drinking Wine’ documentary will be shown from 7.30PM (UK).

Remember That Night DVD (2007)If you were one of the lucky Ritzy winners, you will have an e-mail waiting for you right about… now.

Congratulations. You will be attending the private North American premiere of David’s forthcoming live DVD, ‘Remember That Night’, on Saturday 15 September.

This is the last entry for the week, so have a wonderful time if you’ll be attending any of the participating venues where the UK & Europe cinematic premiere of ‘Remember That Night: David Gilmour Live at The Royal Albert Hall’ is being broadcast on Thursday.

Some tickets are still available, so do check the list of European cinemas and contact the venues directly, by telephone or through their websites, if you haven’t yet acquired tickets.

Both premieres promise to be a great nights, with a live song, David answering your questions… and maybe even a surprise or two.

Speaking of questions, I have contacted the senders of our favourites. If you didn’t get an e-mail on Thursday (UK & Europe) or yesterday (North America), then your question was not selected – sorry.

If you’re going to the premiere at London’s Leicester Square on Thursday, don’t forget that fans are meeting before the show at the Imperial pub on Leicester Street. Everyone is more than welcome to join the party, so feel free to call in from 5PM (UK) for a pre-show tipple. You can get an idea of who will be there over at the Leicester Square meet-up page.

Ritzy winners, if you have any questions, they’ll have to wait until Monday. However, all you need to know is contained in your confirmation e-mail. If you received that e-mail, you’re on the list and your seat is safe. Please go ahead and make all the necessary travel/accommodation arrangements in complete confidence.

Back on Monday, looking forward to hearing your memories of this unique occasion.

Remember That Night DVD (2007)IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: TICKETS STILL AVAILABLE (31/08/07)

I still have some tickets left, so forget about the deadline.

If you haven’t yet put your name forward, there’s still time to do so.

Please read the following very carefully before you leave a message. Ineed your full name and full postal address, the same for any of your guests (three are permitted), and greatly appreciate one post with all the details included (as opposed to several disjointed ones).

When they’re gone, they’re gone, so please don’t deliberate for too long.

The North American premiere of ‘Remember That Night: David Gilmour Live at The Royal Albert Hall’ – on Saturday 15 September – is to be a private event held at London’s Brixton Ritzy… and I’m inviting all our ‘Irregular’ friends.

So, that’s another opportunity for a fan get-together in the capital, if you fancy it.

Let me know if you’d like to attend and I’ll see how many of you I can fit in. I’ll even give you up to four tickets each so that you can take three of your friends along with you (thus guaranteeing a place in their good books just in time for Christmas).

However, if you’re not a regular contributor, please don’t bother reading any further.

I hark on about our ‘Irregulars’ often enough, and stress that anyone can join their ranks if they only joined in. As I anticipate more names than actual tickets, I have to prioritise, and I like to reward those who are loyal to this blog.

If you are an Irregular and can get to the Ritzy Picturehouse at Brixton Oval, Coldharbour Lane, London, SW2 1JG by 8PM sharp (UK time) on Saturday 15 September, I want to hear from you.

I need your full name and postal address, plus the full names and postal addresses of up to three of your friends. Manage this in just one post and you might hear from me on Monday.

If you don’t, you haven’t been chosen. You can’t all win, sadly.

Tickets are non-refundable and, obviously, I want all ticket-holders to attend. There will be a small crowd in attendance and I don’t want it to get any smaller just because you aren’t 100% certain that you can be there. Therefore, please only express your interest if you are absolutely sure that you can attend. Other fans will miss out if you win tickets and, subsequently, waste them.

Furthermore, if you find that you cannot attend for any reason, yet your non-blogging friends can, they will not be eligible. You need to attend to get your friends in. So, why not get your mates to wrap you up in cotton wool and look after you for a week or two? It seems a shame to miss an opportunity to be pampered rotten, doesn’t it?

This is an out-and-out ticket give-away to our Irregulars. Again, all I ask is that you:

- Include your full name and address,
- Include the full names and full addresses of up to three friends,
- Promise that you will all show up on the night and look dead keen,
- Do all of the above in just one brief post.

Time is of the essence. If you give me incomplete details, or send your names in dribs and drabs, you have no chance. One post with everything I need, please. No excuses. No favours.

For the record, you can’t sell your spare tickets. You can’t even give them away. You, and your guests, need to be on the guest list to get in.

That’s why I urge you to choose your guests carefully and be sure that you are all able to attend before contacting me. If you can’t do this, then know that somebody else can – and will.

If I do not have your full details by 1PM Friday (UK time), then you’re too late to be considered, so don’t dilly-dally. As soon as my tickets are gone, they’re gone.

I promise not to advertise a surprise party at your house and make a mess on your front lawn while you’re away. Your names and addresses will never be published, shared, sold, or anything irritating like that.

Good luck and remember: one post with all your details, please. Just one.

Thank you.

Remember That Night DVD (2007)If you’re somewhat baffled, then Name That Tune was an old television quiz show where contestants had to identify a song title after hearing just a few bars of music.

We’re doing it with pictures instead.

Dare you hazard a guess as to which song David is playing above?

You can click on the image for a closer look, if it helps.

If you haven’t yet sent in your question for David, then you’re slowly running out of time. The deadline is this coming Friday at 5PM (UK).

Please click here to leave your question at the right place – and do be sure to read the rules first. They’re right at the top of the page. You can’t miss them. (Well, some of you clearly are missing them…)

I need to know your real name and whereabouts. Leave this information out and your question will not be considered. It really is that simple.

These are questions from anyone in Europe, and anyone due to attend a cinema where ‘Remember That Night’ is being shown on Thursday 6 September only, don’t forget.

The questions for the North American premiere – on Saturday 15 September – have been chosen and will be announced, along with the European ones, towards the end of next week – at the very earliest.

However, please be aware that not all shortlisted questions will be used on the night. This is due to the cinemas requiring some flexibility. Consequently, even if your question is chosen and you send in your video, audio and photo, there is a chance that your question, unfortunately, will not be used. Obviously, this is out of my hands.

I just wanted to make that clear up front, so that everyone knows the deal.

The same applies for both UK & Europe and North American premieres.

There’s a new poll about the Q&A sessions, so do cast your vote.

The chatroom is open tomorrow between 4PM and 6PM (UK).

Remember That Night DVD (2007).Any idea which song is being performed in the picture above? If nobody gets it, we’ll have another from the same song next time.

Click on the image for a closer look.

It’s a screenshot from David’s forthcoming DVD, ‘Remember That Night’, which is released next month.

Speaking of which, I’m glad that you like the new EPK. If you haven’t seen it yet, click here.

Please keep your questions for David coming – here, not here – but only if you’re in North America, any other Sony region, or if you will be attending one of the 166 cinemas across Canada and the US on Saturday 15 September.

There are some very good ones so far. Thank you for making it difficult to select the best.

However, if you’ve already sent one in, that’s your lot. It’s strictly one-question-per-person. Submitting a second will mean that both of your questions will be ignored (yes, I’m spiteful like that), so please don’t bother.

You have until 5PM (UK) tomorrow to submit your question, so don’t leave it too late. No further questions for the North American premiere will be accepted after this time.

There will, however, be a separate entry for anyone in Europe/those who shall be seeing the cinematic premiere of ‘Remember That Night’ on Thursday 6 September in Europe. That will be here on Monday.

Below are some more of Phil Manzanera’s answers to your questions.

I heard on an interview that if David was not a musician, he might be flying planes?! How about you, if you were not a musician, what would you be doing? (Veronica from Miami)

A Cuban revolutionary, like my mate Che!

What was your inspiration to pick up the guitar? (AxPxM88)

Spanish guitar was inspired by my mother’s playing, and electric to get girls!

When did you first start playing guitar? (Chris Hampton)

Age seven in Havana, Cuba on my mum’s Spanish guitar, learning Cuban folk songs.

Did you know how to read music when you took up guitar? (Jan)

I didn’t want to learn how to read music. I sent off from Venezuela to London for a book that I thought would show me pictures of where to put my fingers on the fretboard, but instead they sent me a course on blue carbon paper about music theory, so any port in a storm, I inadvertently learnt something about it. Of course, reading the dots is a complete hindrance to Rock and Roll.

Remember That Night DVD (2007).You shouldn’t need reminding, but, just in case…

David’s forthcoming live DVD, ‘Remember That Night: David Gilmour Live at The Royal Albert Hall’, will be premiered in cinemas across Europe and North America next month.

85-minutes from the concert – introduced by David – will be broadcast, in High Definition, live via satellite from London.

David will also be performing one song and taking part in a Q&A.

This is where I start with the Q&A. I want your questions.

But first, please note that today’s entry is for the North American premiere only.

I’ll do the same for the European premiere soon, so please do not submit a question below if you are in Europe, or if you will be attending a cinema in Europe. I will ask for your questions next week.

I only want questions for North America for now.

It’s strictly one question per person and the only submissions considered eligible will be presented exactly as follows, so please get ready to copy and paste.

Do be aware that the following information will be published for all to see. You do not need to reveal your full name or address.

Real name:
Town/city, state (if applicable) and country:

I will/will not (please specify) be attending a participating North American cinema. (Tell us which one, if you want to.)

Question:

Please do not send in a question unless you are prepared, should your question be chosen, to record yourself asking it. Remember that this recording will be played at 166 cinemas across Canada and the US. Every person sitting inside these cinemas will see, and hear, you – including David, who will then answer your question.

If you are not able, or prepared, to do this, please do not waste your time submitting a question.

For full Q&A terms and conditions, including details of your audio and/or video recordings, please click here.

Tickets are still available for this event, which takes place on Saturday 15 September. For full details, see previous entries concerning Canada and the US.

May 18 & 19, 2006: Rehearsing at Bray Film Studios.

On Monday, I’ll start taking your questions for David (for the North American premiere of ‘Remember That Night: David Gilmour Live at The Royal Albert Hall’).

As you know, David will take part in a live Q&A session… twice. These will be broadcast, live via satellite, to all participating cinemas in Europe (on Thursday 6 September) and North America (on Saturday 15 September).

There will also be a quick live performance and 85-minutes of concert footage (taken from David’s forthcoming DVD, ‘Remember That Night’), broadcast in High Definition.

Please read the following carefully before deciding whether or not you wish to submit a question.

Anyone can ask a question. You don’t have to be attending one of the cinemas. You don’t have to be in North America or Europe.

But you do need to leave your question at the right place.

The next entry will be entitled ‘North American Q&A’.

If you are in North America, or if you will be attending a cinema in North America, please leave your question at the ‘North American Q&A’ entry.

If you are in Europe, or if you will be attending a cinema in Europe, please do not leave your question at the ‘North American Q&A’ entry. There will be an entry entitled ‘UK & Europe Q&A’, so please be patient and wait for that.

If you are anywhere else in the world, for argument’s sake, please leave your question beneath ‘North American Q&A’ if your copy of ‘On An Island’ has the Sony logo on the back. If you see the EMI logo, please wait for ‘UK & Europe Q&A’.

You may only send one question each. Submit a list of questions and all of them will be ignored.

Anyone found trying to cheat the system with multiple questions will immediately be disqualified.

No questions about Pink Floyd reforming, please. They won’t get far. Neither will questions about tribute bands, the best way to kick-start a career in music, or the possibility of David listening to your demos.

This is a unique opportunity, so “Dude, when are you coming to Miami?” deserves a slap, rather than any part in this exciting event.

A friendly tip: I like short, snappy questions.

There will be a clear format for submitting your question, which must be adhered to. This requires:

- Your real name (doesn’t have to be your full name)
- Your town/city, state (if applicable) and country
- If you will be attending one of the participating North American cinemas (tell me which one, if you wish)
- Your question

Quite simply, if this information is not provided, your question will not count.

Please note that this information, and all eligible questions, will be published for all to see.

This does not mean that, if you see your question, you should grab your camera. I will let you know which questions I choose to put to David, so do not make any recordings unless you hear from us.

As for the videos, then your recording must be of good quality. Filming yourself on your mobile ‘phone will not do. Remember, this video will be shown on very large cinema screens.

Nobody wants pixelation problems, which is why we insist that you must include a high-resolution photograph of yourself, plus an audio recording, along with your video (just in case your video isn’t up to standard).

Technical issues will determine what ends up on the cinema screen: your photo, or your video. If you send poor quality video, your photo and audio will be used instead of video. If you have any doubts about your video, please just send a photo and an audio recording of you asking your question in a loud, clear voice. Video is not necessary.

Everyone has an equal chance of their question being selected. I’ll pick the ones I like best.

You will have one week – from Monday until Friday 17 August – to send in your question, so don’t rush. Get your question right, because, once it is submitted, it will not be changed.

No further questions will be considered after 5PM (UK) on Friday.

Finally, but very importantly: do not send in a question unless you are prepared to record yourself asking it. Remember, this recording will be played at some 200 cinemas across Europe and North America. Everybody inside these cinemas will see, and hear, you.

If you are not able, or prepared, to provide us with video, audio and a photo, please do not submit a question.

I look forward to receiving your questions – North America only, don’t forget – on Monday.

If you don’t already have the date jotted down somewhere, David’s new DVD, ‘Remember That Night’, is released on Monday 17 September in Europe, Tuesday 18 September everywhere else.

The chatroom will be opening very soon. It will be open until 2PM (UK time). We hope to see lots of you there.

Below are more of Phil Manzanera’s answers to your questions. Thank you to everyone who sent one in for consideration.

Speaking of questions, I hope you’ve all got one ready for David. I’ll be ready for them soon, so please keep twiddling your thumbs and making your question shorter, snappier and more interesting.

Everyone has an equal chance of their question being selected. I’ll be choosing the ones I like best and will keep the entry open for a week, so you’ll have plenty of time.

Just remember that it’s strictly one question per person. Send in a list of questions and all of them will be ignored.

I’ll be starting with the North American premiere’s Q&A on Monday.

I know you’re very keen to get your questions in, but please don’t send them until I ask for them.

Thank you for your patience.

As a musician, which would be more interesting for you: Gilmour plays Roxy Music, or Ferry sings Pink Floyd? (Dan)

Neither!

Describe David Gilmour in five words. (Victor)

No, this man deserves more than five words!

Do you subscribe to the current trend of reforming famous ‘older’ groups when they offer no new material? (Martin D)

From a punter’s point of view, I don’t mind, as most people just want to hear the old stuff. But, artistically, it’s always better to have a few new songs.

Have you ever replied to the fans through a blog/site before? (Elisabetta Corsi)

No.

Who named you El Magnifico? (Emilio)

Los Gilmoures.

Remember That Night DVD (2007)

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: TICKETS ON SALE NOW

If you wish to book your tickets online, and find the Cineplex website difficult, you should find this link more helpful.

54 venues across Canada are involved in the North American cinematic premiere of ‘Remember That Night: David Gilmour Live At The Royal Albert Hall’, which takes place on Saturday 15 September.

Please click here for a list of all participating cinemas.

Tickets go on sale tomorrowFriday 3 August – from each cinema’s Box Office. You can also book your tickets online.

Please do not contact any of these cinemas before this time. No tickets will be issued today.

You cannot order online until tomorrow, so don’t be alarmed by the website’s total lack of any mention of this event. The details you require will be there tomorrow.

However, if you do experience any technical difficulties with ordering online first thing tomorrow morning, please be patient and try again a little later.

Tickets are priced at $12.95 (plus tax).

So, that’s 54 cinemas in Canada, 111 in the United States, 15 in the UK and three in the Netherlands, not to mention the UK & Europe premiere at London’s Leicester Square.

I’ll have more cinemas in more countries just as soon as I can announce them.

If you need reminding: both the European and North American premieres of David’s forthcoming live DVD, ‘Remember That Night’, will be broadcast, in High Definition, via satellite from London.

This includes 85-minutes from the concert, introduced by David himself, plus a live song and live Q&A.

I know that many of you have your question at the ready, but think it only fair to announce all participating cinemas before inviting you to send them in. So, please hold on to your question for now and I’ll let you know when I’m ready for them.

Yesterday’s Name That Tune teaser was ‘This Heaven’. Well done if you guessed correctly.

Remember That Night DVD (2007)IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: DELAYED ON-SALE DATE (30/07/07)

I have just been informed that seven US cinemas have a delayed on-sale date, due to ticket system changes. If you try to order via the Fathom Events website, you will receive a message notifying you that tickets are not yet on sale (after you enter your zip code).

Apologies for the inconvenience caused. Those affected are as follows:

Tinseltown, Colorado Springs, CO
Cinemark @ Seven Bridges, Woodridge, IL
Tinseltown, Louisville, KY
Cinemark Tulsa, Tulsa, OK
Cinemark Pittsburgh Mills, Pittsburg, PA
Cinemark 24 Jordan Crossing, West Jordan, UT
Tinseltown USA, Kenosha, WI

As well as the Leicester Square premiere, 15 cinemas in the UK and three in the Netherlands (with more to be announced across Europe just as soon as we can confirm them), ‘Remember That Night: David Gilmour Live at The Royal Albert Hall’ will also be shown in 111 104 US cinemas.

Please click here for a list.

Tickets go on sale tomorrow: Friday 27 July. You can get them from the Box Office of all participating venues, as well as online.

Please do not contact any cinema today, as they will not issue tickets to anyone before Friday. You will not be able to jump the queue, no matter how hard you try. Really.

Before asking me any questions, such as how you get your ticket if you order online, where else you can purchase tickets if you can’t make it to the Box Office, and why your local cinema isn’t involved, please see Fathom Events’ FAQ page. Most common questions are answered there.

Tickets are priced at $12.50.

For this bargain fee (go on, admit it), not only do you get to see 85-minutes from the concert – in glorious High Definition – before the DVD is released. Heck, no. David will also be performing a song and taking part in a live Q&A session, which you can be involved in.

I’ll explain next week how you can ask David a question… and get your face on cinema screens across North America at the same time.

If you already know, please do not submit any questions for now. I don’t want them yet. I’ll let you know when I’m ready, so please be sure that your question has the best possible chance of being selected. Change the wording; make it shorter, snappier and more interesting.

I obviously anticipate a great number of questions, most of which, of course, will not make it through the selection process. It’s down to you to give your question the best possible chance.

The show starts at 3PM (Eastern) and 12PM (Pacific) on Saturday 15 September.

That’s right, it’s not Thursday 6 September, as in Europe. David is going to be doing this twice: two live satellite broadcasts, two live performances and two live Q&As.

That really is all that I can say about the second do for now, so please don’t bother asking for more.

I’ll have details of the 54 cinemas in Canada next week.
